Hi, this site have been so helpfull  but we are now starting to look at what we will need for the adjustment and are very confused !

I read there is a poverty limit so i went and look and found out we need to have 18000$ income.

My american fiance who is the sponsor doesnt make that much, we are only 19.

- Our household is 2 (me and him), if we ask someone of his family to be a joint sponsor, will the household goes up to 3 people, thus 23000$ income instead of 18000?

- is it a problem if the joint sponsor is retired ?

whoever you ask to cosponsor would have to make the limit based on their family plus the immigrant.

i'm asking my friend susie, she is married and has 2 kids, so she has to be able to meet the limit for a family of 5 (them plus my fiance) which is around 33k, and between her and her hubby they make 60k for family income

and you are aware you'll need around 1000$ to file for the adjustment of status when the time comes?

There is no "us". your USC fiance is NOT included in the household count unless he is the sponsor. If it's your grandpa, plus his wife, plus YOU. that's all. Household size of three. Your fiance doesn't count because his grandpa isn't sponsoring him.
