Certified Translations - Houston, Texas

Well, we just finished the interview process and have gotten a request for evidence -- they require a certified translator for his birth certificate. And, of course, they did not offer any suggestions on where to find such a thing.

I am currently trying to get in touch with my local consulate but they have yet to respond. Has anyone had a similar problem? I have Googled for places/people in the Houston, Texas area but I just can't seem to find anyone that is -certified-.

Can anyone out there help me?

Maybe you can find a notary public that does translations? Just an idea to give them a call to see if they can help or can offer any guidence as far as certifed translations.

I live in Houston. What about calling the various universities? Have you tried finding a cultural center? I know there are several in town also. I know there is a Texas Swedish Cultural Foundation, but not sure where their offices are.
