AOS Interview Tomorrow!- Urgent Question!

Hey all,

My husband (non US citizen) and I have our AOS interview tomorrow! yay! I have a question... as far as documentation to show we are married (things in both of our names).. we dont really have much. This is because everything was put in my name only (lease, utlities, cable and internet etc) due to me being the only one with credit history in the U.S.

Will this pose a problem?

We have a joint bank account and both of our names under the same cell phone plan and thats it. Of course we have our marriage license and tons of wedding photos.. will this be sufficient?

I am just nervous so any tips are appreciated!

Thanks guys!!

Meggie.

its best to bring everything you got, all the bills, and anything that shows you are together, like healt insuranse or a car lease- anything that you can. I went to my interview, and they said i didnt have enough, as we dont share a bank account, or believe in credit cards- so we only had the bills in my name, to show we lived at the same address. as we didnt have enough, she actually couldnt approve us! but we were able to come up with some stuff and go back later that afternoon, my husband bought me a car, but its all in my name, so i got a copy of my title, and we printed out a copy of the check that he paid for it. also we gave her a copy of the insurance forms, to show that my name is on his insurance.

I hope this helps, mesg me if you have any other questions.

We can't know if it will be sufficient, because every case is different. And, as it's tomorrow, there isn't much else you can do because you left it to the last minute. However, they are generally easier on newlyweds (and first/only marriages if that applies to you) because they know that it takes time to build a life together. Also, they have built in a double-check process in the removing of conditions that you will have to file for in 2 years, which will be more strict than the requirements now. Bringing photos over the course of your relationship will help too and maybe travel itineraries/stamps from your previous vacations together. Bring everything you have, be confident, and good luck!

AOS for my husband
8/17/10: INTERVIEW DAY (day 123) APPROVED!!

ROC:
5/23/12: Sent out package
2/06/13: APPROVED!

Not much you can do now, is there? Relax. We had a joint account, put her on the gas and electric bills, had her name and our address on her college admissions letter, photos of course, our library cards, her state issued ID card, our state canoe registration in both names, junk mail mailed to her name at our address (If the US Post Office, a branch of the Federal Government acknowledges that she lives at this address....then who can argue with the Post Office.....See Mircale on 34th Street for more info). She had the NOA1 form from the AOS plus the biometrics notice, all from USCIS, marriage cert., .....and then in the end, no interview.

You'll be fine.
