cover letter?

me and my wife were going to dcf this week, but i just have one quick question...

since we are doing a dcf, do we need to make a cover letter still when we give them our I-130?

5-20-2009: met through a mutual friend she went to college with and i worked with

7-05-2009: officially became a 'couple'

11-28-2009: moved to manila, i also proposed

12-28-2009: married :)

12-09-2010: Submitted our I-130 at the embassy (DCF)

12-14-2010: mailed in additional evidence (employment cert., rental contract)

01-28-2011: we finally received NOA

02-09-2011: WE RECEIVED PACKET 3!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

02-14-2011: Sent packet 3 to the embassy

02-23-2011: Received letter for interview appointment

03-01&02-2011: Medical exam. passed!!!!

04-01-2011: INTERVIEW!!!!! APPROVED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

06-04-2011: POE: Salt Lake City, Utah!

07-29-2012: 3 months pregnant!!!

A cover letter is not required. However, many petitioners include a cover letter.

I did not include one and there was no problem at all.

Since you are filing the petition in person, I think it is more of a formality issue whether to include the cover letter or not.

My Visa Journey:

Dec-15-2008..... Got Married!

Aug-20-2010..... Filed I-130 at U.S. Embassy

Sep-15-2010..... NOA 1 Received

Sep-23-2010..... Packet 3 Instructions Received from U.S. Embassy

Nov-19-2010..... Packet 3 Handed in to U.S. Embassy

Nov-19-2010..... Packet 4 (Appointment Letter) Instructions Received from U.S. Embassy

Nov-20-2010..... Medical Examination Completed

Dec-06-2010..... Interview - Visa Approved!

Dec-13-2010..... Visa In Hand!

May-02-2011..... Port of Entry - IR-1

May-16-2011..... Social Security Card Received

May-21-2011..... Green Card Received

Not really required.

It is helpful though as it can serve as your checklist on the things your need to file/submit.

Filed I-130 : Oct. 20,2010

Notice of Action: Nov. 29,2010

NoA received: Dec.3, 2010

NoA reply sent: Feb 3,2011

Bangkok USCIS receipt: Feb. 7,2011

Notice of Approval : Feb. 23,2011

Our NoA receipt: March 7,2011

Packet 3 received: April 1, 2011
