Ok, old women, the very retro, and those committing a faux pas.

Well, I am not an old woman, don't think I am committing a faux pas, and prefer classic to retro. But I do wear the same perfume as both my mother and my grandmother. Of course it's been around so long that when they first started wearing it, they weren't old either.

I'd rather smell like me, or maybe sometimes a boutique scent.

I will agree with that. And I really hate it when people put on so much perfume or cologne that you can smell them loooong after they have left the room. :dead:

Yes, I'm sorry to be so anti-perfume, but I work VERY CLOSELY (and I mean physically) with people and their colognes and perfumes suffocate me frequently. I've actually thrown up from some nasty perfume. The only thing worse than that is awful B.O. though, which I also encounter daily. Blech

as ann landers once said, a perfume should be discovered, not announced

One of my favorite quotes

Nice perfume but did you have to marinate in it?

I understand! There have been more than a few times where I have been in elevators with people and had to hold my breath until my floor because their perfume has been so noxious.

That being said, when I smell the perfume I wear - and I do the spray over your head and run under it so hopefully it's not too much  - I think of both my mom and my gramma and all our good times together. So I guess it goes both ways.

Were you buying it for your grandma?

 are you insinuating that only old women wear that?

Say what you like, but I actually had the same thought....

Agree with Charles there grasshopper, I love it, it is timeless and if it works with your body, smells great. Lots of these "newer" perfumes that these stars like to market are just basically worthless and all you are paying for is the name.

Another "old" one that you might like to try is the classic Private collection by Este Lauder, if you like good perfume instead of the run of the mill or cheapo stuff that is

And do you know that when you apply the fragrance to the inside of your wrists you never, and I mean never pat your wrists together??

And I am no spring chicken but neither am I an old lady,

Please tell me you don't wear Youth Dew! That screams grandma! I do like Tuscany.

I also don't remember the last time anyone put perfume on their wrists. Old school!

there is a modern way to apply perfume???? I spray my wrists, and the back of my knees for some crazy reason!!

Most colognes don't smell good on me. Everything comes out like garlic. the exception is Dolce and Gabbana.

I looooove Dolce and Gabanna Light BLue it smells so good! I told the lady at the counter I thought it smelled like woodchips (which apparently I like) and she thought I was crazy.

Love it though.

Yes.

you have lots to learn, grasshopper.

Charles, are you implying that you have detailed knowledge of perfumes?

I do because I've bought lots of perfume for women over the years.

Chanel 5 is one of the most classic fragrances. It's been around for a long time and it still holds a hefty price tag. I don't think you'll find many women who don't like it...young or old.

All time favorite is Clinique Aeromatics Elixir. Very expensive but I've found deals on ebay before. So far so good and I've not got taken yet. Keep my fingers crossed.

mhh a fragrance is generally gonna suck if its under 30 dollars..

no offense.. but 30-60 dollars is a good price for a good parfume or cologne.. specially parfumes cuz usually they are more expensive and concentrated than colognes.. 50 dollar's ain't 'too expensive'.. wanna expensive parfume.. any cartier parfume.. like the panter

Anyone ever used Boucheron? Oh my that is one heavenly scent, when it first came out it was a reasonable price at around $50. Now it is near enough $100, the mister needs a good job! :P

That's a bit... ummmm ghetto. If you know what I mean? Stay away from the burberry too.

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."
