My dad was born Harold Carl Gregg, but he has gone by Gregg his whole life. I wasn't thinking, and just wrote 'Gregg' as his first name on my form. Is this a big deal?

I already sent the form to my fiance in the US, he has it now. If I need to fix it, can he like white it out and fix it or will we need to print out a whole new form with it fixed on it?

thank you!

Cross it out and write the proper name in. White-out shouldnt be used on government documents.

I had an error on the zipcode and at the interview they made me cross it out and put in the correct zipcode infront of them.

Actually white out CAN be used. The government uses white out tape when they make corrections. But yes, you can draw a line through it and write the correct info. It is not really a big deal...not a "material fact". In other words, your fathers name has nothing to do with whether YOU get a visa.

It should be as accurate as possible as the G-325a is often used to sort out people whose "names" show up on bad guy lists during a background check. The more accurate the info, the easier it is to determine YOU are not THAT person.

There is a big difference between white-out tape, and white-out liquid. White out should NEVER be used on legal documents but if you have no option, tape is accepted because it's very easy to scratch off to see what was under it.

The best method is to put two lines through it and write the new info beside or above the correction.

The G-325a is not a "legal document". It is a document used to collect information. It is more important that the information be correct rather than the method of changing the bad information. There is no prohibition against "white out" liquid or tape. Any such prohibition exists only in the imagination of the hot stove league. As long as the form is LEGIBLE and as correct as possible, all is OK.

There is absolutely -0- interest in seeing what is under white out tape on a G-325a.

You are correct that YOU know what a legal document is, but that's not to say that everyone else does.. it's best to err on the side of caution when giving "white out is fine" advice because it isn't in all cases. That would be why I specified "legal documents".

OP, he is correct that in THIS instance white out would be okay, but I would personally recommend you put a line through it and correct it, it looks messier but you don't risk an RFE (some people will RFE you for it just to be a pain).
