Peace to All creatures great and small............................................

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

In Thackeray's case, only partly true; that chopf#ck is ugly outside and even uglier bone-deep.

I take back what I said about Shiv Sena involvement in this restaurant. One of the partners in this restaurant is one Shakir Siddiqui.... there is no way someone named that would be involved with a Hindu extremist organization.

Mumbai's 'Hitler's Cross' to change name

The owners of Hitler's Cross restaurant here, at the centre of a controversy after Jewish groups objected to its name, have decided to re-name the eatery.

"There is no point hurting the sentiments of a particular community over the name of a restaurant. We have decided to change its name and a new name will be announced in two days," Shakir Siddiqui, a partner in the restaurant at Kharghar in the satellite town of Navi Mumbai, said.

The restaurant reportedly removed a poster of the Nazi leader from its premises on Wednesday. Siddiqui said the decision was taken by the restaurant's owners after a meeting with Jewish Society of India Chairman Jonathon Solomon this morning.

"Solomon will now convey our decision to the Israeli and German consulates," he said. After the restaurant's inauguration on August 18, a large section of people, including German Consul General Walter Stechel and Israeli Consul General Daniel Zohar Zonshine, had protested, alleging the German dictator's name was being glorified.

Man is made by his belief. As he believes, so he is.

update from yahoo news:

MUMBAI (Reuters) - A restaurant in India's financial hub has agreed to change its name from "Hitler's Cross" following strong protests by the country's tiny Jewish community and pressure from Israel.

"Hitler's Cross", which opened a week ago using posters of the Fuehrer and Nazi swastikas for publicity, initially refused to change its name, but relented on Thursday and covered its signboards with white cloth.

The restaurant's name and its marketing gimmick had infuriated India's Jewish population, which had said it would fight any attempts at "rehabilitating Hitler".

Germany and Israel joined the protests with the Israeli consul-general in Mumbai writing to city authorities urging them to take steps to get the restaurant's name changed.

"We acknowledge that the name adopted by us for our restaurant was most inappropriate," Satish Sabhlok, one of the owners of the multi-cuisine restaurant, said in a statement.

"Our intention was not to glorify Hitler or his atrocities or ideology in any way and we regret the anguish caused by the use of this name."

The owners were yet to decide on a new name, he added.

The Indian Jewish Federation, the community's umbrella organisation, said it was relieved.

"The incident exposes the lack of understanding of the present generation about the atrocities of the past and the need to educate them about crimes against humanity," federation chairman Jonathan Solomon said.
