Hi guys,

Ive been noticing that many of you on your timelines mention getting NOAs, biometrics notifications, receipt notifications, etc. via email and/or text and I was wondering how you are able to do so. I don't recall giving my email address in any of the forms (I-485, I-130, etc.). I did provide a phone number but does the USCIS assume this is a mobile number (which is how they text you?)

The reason I ask is that my checks have been cashed according to my online statements but I have yet to receive any NOAs...

You need to go online on the USCIS website and make an account, after you make the account and have your number (usually you get that from the picture of the check but its not always correct) you add the number to the dockets and select text/email notifications. If you cant see your number on your picture check you will need to wait to get the paper NOA in the mail for it.

some people will send a G-1145E with their petitions so they can be notified via email or/and text

also you can go to:

https://egov.uscis.g.../jsps/login.jsp

and sign up an account so you can check for "touches" (you wont get email for every time they look at your file from the g-11145E)

if you gave your info (receipt #s, full name, etc) to anyone on VJ under the guise that they would "help" you through the immigration journey with his inside contacts (like his sister at USCIS) ... please contact OLUInquiries@dhs.gov, and go to http://www.whitehouse.gov/contact to report anything suspicious. Contact your congressman and senator's offices as well.

Thanks for all the help guys. So basically, until you get your first NOA and application receipt number through "snail mail" you can't check the status online/via email and text?

if your check has been cashed look on the back, there should be 3 letters followed by 10 numbers

you can call this number to check status: 800-375-5283

Thanks y'all for the responses. We had no idea you could even check the image of a check that's been cashed online so we logged onto our bank account online and sure enough we found the image. It is way too blurry so I guess for now we'll just have to wait for the mail. Hopefully it'll come in soon.

Thanks for your help!

Sorry for the double posts

on the g-1145E you should have filled out your mobile number for texts or (and) email address for emails

thats how you will receive :)

from uscis website you will enter the receipt number once you have it, and you can go there to check for touches (those you will not get emails or texts)

if you gave your info (receipt #s, full name, etc) to anyone on VJ under the guise that they would "help" you through the immigration journey with his inside contacts (like his sister at USCIS) ... please contact OLUInquiries@dhs.gov, and go to http://www.whitehouse.gov/contact to report anything suspicious.
