Friends,

My fiance was worried that since I have financial responsibilities such as loans and credit cards debt, it would affect my visa approval. Have you heard denial based on this? I plan to maintain my local bank account so I can send money to my family. Also I'm keeping one local credit card since I have my 20 years unit link (retirement fund + insurance) deducted monthly. (The insurance is Cigna and I can't make payment via bank account). When the money is due will my acquired U.S citizenship influenced the payment? I am working hard and taking lots of over time so I can pay them all by October next year.

Your inputs and advices are highly appreciated. Thank you.

Only the financial situation of the US citizen is important in this process, because he is the one who needs to meet some requirements and proof that he can support you once you are in the US. At the interview (at the Consulate), the non-USC is not asked to provide any financial info (unless the procedures are very different at the Consulate in Jakarta :unsure: ). I would say that you and your fiance have nothing to worry about regarding this issue. Good luck!

edited to add: I, myself, still have financial responsibilities back in Romania. I was not asked to provide info on credit card balance or anything like that...

Only the financial situation of the US citizen is important in this process, because he is the one who needs to meet some requirements and proof that he can support you once you are in the US. At the interview (at the Consulate), the non-USC is not asked to provide any financial info (unless the procedures are very different at the Consulate in Jakarta :unsure: ). I am sorry I missed your post Happy. We are still eagerly waiting for NOA2. Some days are harder since I whine a lot lol. I guess what I'm worried the most is whether I can find a decent job there since I have to keep current financially. Oh well... Nothing to but working very hard now to save money. :yes:
