CBP is Customs and Border Protection and identifies the agency whose task is protecting the borders. Patrolling the borders is the activity of the officers in the white and green SUVs physically checking the borders. Hence the words "border patrol" on their car. It's the same as those cops with "highway patrol" on their car. you wouldn't say that their department is the highway patrol department, but it isn't incorrect to refer to them with that name.

Thanks, I feel better now. I was afraid some vandal has mis-labeled all their SUVs. Around here we just refer to them as "the Patrol" B-)

I was denied entry a year ago. I didn't have strong ties to Canada with me. Since then I have been allowed entry 3 times. Make sure you have a return ticket. Strong ties to your country such as proof of employment, utility bills in your name, proof of a bank account, etc. Be truthful with the officer and only answer the questions he or she asks with short straight to the point answers. Good luck!

I think this thread refers to denial of the K-1 as a whole at the POE, not just visiting during the K-1 process. Good points though for anyone crossing. In this case though, ties to Canada would not be necessary (upon entering on your K-1 visa).

Aha!! Thank you for the clear-up :) However... theyre still the mean and nasty people at the border...

Invictus..

Out of the night that covers me,

Black as the Pit from pole to pole,

I thank whatever gods may be

For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance

I have not winced nor cried aloud.

Under the bludgeonings of chance

My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears

Looms but the Horror of the shade,

And yet the menace of the years

Finds, and shall find, me unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,

How charged with punishments the scroll.

I am the master of my fate:

I am the captain of my soul.

Green uniforms are BPA Border Patrol Agents. They protect the border between the legal access points.

BPA. Border Protection Agents secure the legal points of entry be that land ports or airports.

Hopefully that clears that up.

they both as well as ICE, Immigration and Customs Enforcement all fall under CBPA, Customs and Border Protection/ Department of Homeland Security.

Correction. ICE is under Dept. of Homeland Security

Correct. ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) is not part of Customs and Border Protection but IS part of Homeland Security.
