hey everyone!

just a couple of quick questions involving items on the form DS-156.

ive filled it all out but i havnt submitted it yet, i was unsure of a couple of responses so i was just wondering if i could get some help...

Item 26: How long do you intend to stay in the U.S? I wasnt exactly sure what to write here. obviously im applying for the K1 and i intend to enter and get married, so basically i intend to stay indefinitely. I wrote "For the duration of Visa and Adjustment of Status and then indefinitely"? is this ok?

Item 32: Do you intend to work in the U.S (if yes, give the name and address of U.S employer)? Obviously I do intend to work eventually (i think my fiance would be pretty upset if i didnt hehe) but because i dont actually have an employer there yet i just marked "No" is that right?

thats pretty much it.

ive had U.S visas before and i know they can be pretty strict on the answers given so i just wanted to make sure id answered everything right.

thanks for any help.

Brad :-)

The example forms don't always "work" for me... or rather i disagree with the answers.

For 26, I don't necessarily want to stay there "permanently"... it's not really determined we'll settle in the US for life... which is why "indefinite" works for me.

For 32, I disagree with yes because it seems like you have plans. I don't have a job lined up or anything so I don't intend to work... YET. This is a multipurpose form for people who do have employment lined up.

I look at it this way, if I met a boy (pretending I'm not married/engaged) you could ask me "do you intend to get married?" the answer then is most likely no. Eventually sure, but right now I have no intent. If I answer "yes" you would be asking me when the date is set etc etc. The same works for this qn, if I answer yes, you're gunna wonder who for, what plans i've made.. if I answer no you know that I don't currently intend to work.. if I change my mind later though, that's not a crime.

p.s. No RFE's for me :)

Oh Vanessa (or tony hehe) YOU ARE MY HERO!!!

you have put my mind at ease SEVERAL times.

i'm thinking once this process is all said and done we should come up with our own "K1 guide" a more "thorough" one. Precise steps and ways to cut down times eg:when to gather documents etc...

hehehe

Vanessa :P I agree. My K1 thread has helped a few though I would like if it could be culled of replies and instead just the guide "for Aussies". All consulates are different which is why is started that thread. Have you read my interview review yet? You might get a laugh out of it.
