Hello All,

If someone is a Citizen and wants to bring his parents over to the USA what paperwork does he have to file with USCIS?? The person lives in NY, where should he/she sent the papers to?

My second question is: I the sister of U.S citizen is married, over 21 and is currently in US with H1B visa, what paperwork does the brother have to file for her??

Thank you very much for your attention.

I-130 for each parent - processing time to visa around 10-12 months.

I-130 for sister - processing time to visa around 8,5 - 20 years depending from which country she is. NOTE: sister can NOT file for adjustment of status when visa number becomes available (8,5- 20 years).

In any case, read the instruction for the forms - they detail what's needed and where to send.

It is all there so no need to repeat.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

Hello there,

The reason that i asked those questions is that I am confused on what happens after the visa gets approved. If there is a website that tells you step by step on what to expect next Iw ould Appreciate it.

If it was all there I would not bother asking in this forum, but thank you for your response. you have been very very helpful.

After visa number current, NVC contacts beneficiary and petitioner to start working on necessary papers (that would be NVC guide). After NVC process is completed, interview at the US embassy in beneficiary country - if successful, they get immigrant visa valid for 6 months from visa issuance and in that period they can immigrate to US.

For what happens after that, there's a very nice USCIS guide called "Now that you're a Legal permanent resident" .
