Hellow, I was just wondering how often during the administrative processing are people denied? What do they check during this time? Nobody will give me any kind of information at DOS. How do i know if there is a mistake in the paperwork? How do i know if there is not enough evidence proving our relationship? Ugh, its just so frustrating not getting any answeres during this process, no updates or anything. Any Advice? ANy other fellow VJers going through the process? How long? Any info will be greatly appreciated,

Thanks,

Adam

My experience was once we reached the Administrative Processing (after the interview at the Embassy in Islamabad) the Officer told my Fiance' that they had everything they needed. So during this time we were not concerned that something might be missing. I have been waiting for my Fiance' in AP for 2 years... but I have seen that women's AP is much shorter. Even our 2 years seems excessive compared to others. It is extremely frustrating to not be able to get answers during AP. But the more you dig into it and the more you try to get answers the more you will be frustrated. I feel like I tried so much and got no where, emails, letters, phone calls, using my Congressman... and I am sure others before me have also tried "everything". Just keep checking periodically, but don't obsess... it will just frustrate you more.

It is very rare that someone gets denied in AP. If your case is based on truth, It can be verified with your friends, relatives and neighbours......you dot have a criminal record anywhere in the world, there is no way that they will deny you. Just hope that your name does not match with someone who is wanted by any of the US or international agency. Be patient.....it will be ok.

AP means they are doing bigger checks on you and your relationship. Some countries these checks are standard and others they are rarer. They will check all sorts of records for your name. If they have any doubt about your relationship they will send investigators out to talk to people about your relationship. IF they dig up any dirt they will deny you. If they don't find anything you are ok. There was a k1 couple who were denied because they contacted the father and the father said the couple were married. That couple was told to file for a marriage visa.

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

Two years! That is terrifying. You haven't considered suing?

The real problem seems to be a complete lack of accountability on the government's part. Of course, everyone supports protecting the U.S. within our borders, but we need to uphold the democratic principles of transparency and accountability. American Families United is working on this issue, trying to get a 6-month limit -- after that a supervisor has to review the case and give an explanation for the delay. I recommend joining this group. (www.americanfamiliesunited.org)

Two years? That's incredible. I hope you'll sign my petition asking for a 90-day limit to AP, and also join www.americanfamiliesunited.org, which is the only advocacy group working on these issues related to family reunification. American Families is working to get a 6-month time limit.

Really, this can be solved. You shouldn't have to wait 2 years. That's terrible.

Here's the petition. Please sign and send to friends and family:
