hi

Need you guys to help me out (just want to prepare the stuff before i get the DS-230).

how can I get the police certificate from RCMP? need to make any appointment? where can i find the RCMP office is located in Toronto?

Welcome to the board! Don't forget to do a search as one can find a great deal of info and most likely find ur answer much quicker.

If your in Toronto, you can goto the Commisionaires http://www.commissionaires.ca/ to get the Canada wide criminal background check completed.

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied,that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

Yes if no criminal record, just the canada wide name check. If in GTA the commisionaires will help you out.

I got my RCMP Canada wide check done here:

International Fingerprinting Services

4002 Sheppard Avenue East,

Scarborough, ON M1S 4R5

Tel. : 416-293-2030

Parking is free.

Don't the the name deter you ... I did not need fingerprints for it as I do not have a criminal record.

Feb 23 - Sent USCIS a message asking for a processing update

May 6 - Received an email response saying things were progressing normally but that waiting times might be longer

Feb 25, 26 & 28 - got emails saying that the cases had been transferred to another office, then to my local office, and then just transferred and are being processed

Mar 17 - got email, attached to one case number only, saying that my A number was changed relating to the I-130 filing

Mar 20 - N-400 receipt date for my father
2021
Apr 21 - Biometrics appt.

May 2 - Interview

Hopefully that 1 works for you. Ensure it states CANADA wide. At one time it stated it had to be conducted by the RCMP or the commisionaires (if GTA) I guess if it doesnt work, you will get RFE'd. Just go by what the packet states, things may have changed since I went through the process

Yes, it is a service of the RCMP. I got mine there and it states on it Nationwide RCMP check.

Feb. 15/ 07 --- GC approved

Nov. 17/09 -- I-751 sent (Day 1)

I got mine done at the local police (City of Waterloo) regional office.

Apparently I had to go to the regional office (located in Kitchener) to get an 'immgration' police check, and after I read this thread I got nervous and called them up, asking if it was a Canada-wide record check and they said yes. So I didn't have to go to the RCMP, my local police did it for me.

On my record check it says "I hereby authorize the [local PD] to ... conduct police information searches Canada-wide ..."

K-1

03/09/2006: Sent I-129F

22/11/2006: NOA2 - APPROVED!

31/12/2006: 1 year anniversary

22/12/2006: Package received from Montreal

18/01/2007: Packet 3 delivered to Montreal Consulate

02/02/2007: Medical Exam in London, ON- Wonderful Doctor/Office

30/05/2007: Package 4 received from Montreal

05/07/2007: Interview date - Canceled by request, [promised a Dec date b/c was 6+mo in advance, note on file

Screwed up my interview date, given NOVEMBER, fixed, promised Dec or Jan

06/02/2008: Interview date, medical now expired! APPROVED!

23/01/2008: New Medical done, WHERE THE @#$%! IS IT, DID THE MAILMAN LOSE IT?! (It arrived 30 min after I left for MTL, 1 week overdue. KISS MY LEFT FOOT, AFTER IT'S BEEN WEDGED UP YOUR HINEY AND LOST IT'S STILETTO, CANADA POST!)

14/02/2008: VISA IN HAND!!

18/05/2008: POE - Harassed by ignorant and incompetent Customs Official who grilled me until I answered that the reason why I broke up w/ my Ex was not to date my USC but b/c he was "impotent from a porn addiction". He also insulted my husband's motives for talking to me, dismissed our 2 years together as "not enough to get married", and otherwise trotted out the Spanish Inquisition.

22/05/2008: Ceremony of cohabitation (Legally allowed to get bizz-ay!)

AOS/AP/EAD

02/07/2008: Filed for AOS/AP/EAD

14/07/2008: Received NOA1

09/09/2008: Transferred to CSC

29/09/2008: EAD arrives in mail w/out notice, AP following week

18/11/2008: Email notice letter has gone out, card ETA: 60 days

25/11/2008: GC arrives in mail! TWO YEARS OF RED-TAPE FREEDOM! WOOT!
