If they don't know if they are ready to be parents, why are they getting pregnant?

There is definitely something missing from this story.

exactly, like "oh well, we'll just kill it if the votes go that way" :wacko:why get pregnant if they are that undecided??? what will they do with the child if the votes say birth it? poor baby

(i been meaning to tell you how cute your avatar with heart-shaped kitties are but always forget! are they your kitties?)

if you gave your info (receipt #s, full name, etc) to anyone on VJ under the guise that they would "help" you through the immigration journey with his inside contacts (like his sister at USCIS) ... please contact OLUInquiries@dhs.gov, and go to http://www.whitehouse.gov/contact to report anything suspicious. Contact your congressman and senator's offices as well.

All I'm seeing right now is "should we have a baby or not?" and they're a 30-year-old couple that both work as techies. Is that all we get to base our choice on?

Yes, you get to vote on whether you want those two geeks to have a little nerd. What else do you need to know?

It seems to me like getting pregnant could be entirely preventable, so if they aren't sure, it's easily avoided. If you don't want a kid, or don't know if you want one, don't have one. It's really that simple.

And thanks! No they aren't my kitties, I stole that from somewhere. ;)

I do love my kittehs though, have 3 of them ATM. :luv:

According to the couple, they've been unsure about whether they're ready to be parents and have concluded that the best way to proceed is to ask random people on the Internet if they should have the child.

They chose to resolve an important life decision by letting random strangers vote on it. If they had any common sense, they would have realized right there that they are not ready.

I wish they would have given it a little more thought before getting pregnant. Or at least put up a poll before getting pregnant. Seems like a better time to decide if one is ready or not.

Then I vote for them to have the kid. More people with jobs and a future need to procreate. The stupids are outpacing us at an alarming rate.

So they should only consider advice from "experts?" Why do folks who are known make any better advice givers than folks who are unknown? Good advice is good advice regardless of who it comes from.

Yeah, cause that's what happens in most abortion cases. "Oh, we were going to wait to get pregnant, but....."

By your argument they should abort. If they're not ready, they shouldn't have a kid.

Sick sick sick if real, but I tend to agree with Jenn! that it's a publicity stunt. IF they're 'all about the vote' and 'letting your voice be heard', they wouldn't have already given themselves with the out by mentioning 'veto power'.

And I'd like to think that most pregnant women who abort do so for greater reasons other than 'because the internets said so!!!'....and I would hope MOST women who get abortions at least would struggle emotionally with the choice, and not act like that subservientchicken.com site from years ago (you type in a command, and the guy in the chicken suit on a webcam loop does whatever you commanded). And most women, if decided to have one, wouldn't wait til the fetus thrives til the 20th week just to kill it.

Let alone two pregnancies already that end in miscarriage? If this ever was true, and she had an abortion, may God have mercy on her for treating such a miracle so cavalierly.

Who said anything about needing experts? I said random strangers. Doesn't make sense to me to seek advice from people yoU don't know while giving very few details about yourself. And the actions they are taking show they are not ready. They don't need any advice, and they aren't really asking for any. A better poll would be "We are not ready for this, but should we go ahead and have the kid or not?"

You gotta make a lot of tough decisions when raising kids. This won't be the hardest one.

It's not an argument, it's a statement. The best time to decide if your ready or not is before getting pregnant. It's certainly not by putting a poll online.

if they were to have this child it would be removed from them... do you honestly think CPS would have any problem in a case like this proving mental instability of both parents?

with 2 recent pregnancies it's obvious they know they are fertile.

I guess I'm not being clear.

The best time to think about the responsibilities of having children and how it would affect your life is before getting pregnant. If you don't feel you are ready to have children, it seems like it's much better to decide beforehand.

I would think married people in their 30's with 2 prior miscarriages would have given at least some thought as to what they would do if they got pregnant again. I found it beyond reprehensible that they are putting a poll online to decide if their unborn child should live or die.

You should do a little research regarding how overloaded CPS is and how many TRULY abused children slip through the cracks because of this. :(

@Slim, I agree: the less intelligent and less educated are definitely outpacing everyone else in procreating.

@Jenn, I agree: I think the couple is pro-life. That thought crossed my mind when I skimmed the site and esp when I saw the sonogram pics and updates of development.

agreed. definitely two sides of THAT issue. kids slip through the cracks but also CPS goes overboard in some instances. i think it depends on state/county and even the caseworker/supervisors.

also agree the dumbing down, but that is a necessary thing for eventual control of the masses.

i disagree that they are pro-life. if they were, would they be treating life as just a disposable thing, especially after 2 miscarriages?

The more I think of it, the more I know it's a stunt. It's to promote discussions like these. It's to get 'pro-choicers' to the site perhaps so they SEE the development of the fetus. It's too in your face and way too outrageous a notion for it to be legit.
