Approximate Processing Dates for Common Forms:

Yesterday the Approximate Processing Dates for Common Forms for K1 at CSC was July 5. Now it is July 18. A couple of days ago it was a June date. About a month ago the date was in late July and then it dropped to and early June date. How is this date calculated?

There is an algorithm behind the scenes that uses the data from other members to calculate this. There are likely improvements that can be made. I will take an hour tonight to revisit them and see if I spot any improvements that I can make .

Maybe if you throw out the 2 highest and 2 lowest values in the group it would settle down, You may get someone that fat fingers the year or just an weird entry that makes things crazy

We already remove Outliers and use other methods to reduce this issue. If there is a more limited data set it is harder. In fact if there are less than a certain number of entries to work with then it will not estimate a date.

The way we determine what an outlier is may be up for debate. I am looking at that now.

Traditionally we threw away x% of the highest and lowest values in a data set. There are better statistical methods and I am implementing one right now that I hope works better .

For K1's I implemented an additional outlier screening method. I will roll this out to the other visa types and benefits shortly (have to go out with my better half before she turns the PC off on me!).

Have you considered adding an approximate processing date for AOSes that are transferred to CSC?
