Never read anywhere on these forums of an experience like mine.

So my 90-day ROC period started on 11/15/2010. I didn't receive any reminder but I remembered anyway (matter of fact I think about it everyday). I didn't worry about not receiving the reminder cos I moved. I got my CGC in 02/09 and 06/09, I moved. I've heard of pple moving & not receiving reminders. Within 30 days of my move, I filed AR 11. Several days later, I got a receipt from USCIS. My center then was Vermont. I kept the receipts. I filed my ROC on Tue. My new center is CA. Today I receive a letter from USCIS, that they sent me a reminder of ROC, ofcourse the mailman returned, so they enclosed the returned reminder in another letter and addressed it to my current address. They said in the letter that I moved and I must notify USCIS if I move blah blah, #######? The letter was from Vermont.

Good thing is that I mailed my ROC with copies of my filing AR 11. Bad news is that now my file is still in Vermont and my ROC is in CA. Seems like it's going to be a very long haul for me on this one. Anyone experienced this? Once USCIS, always USCIS. The website may look prettier but it's still USCIS.

When you filed AR-11, it was by mail, right? Did you include your last receipt number at that time? If I recall, the receipt number for the original petition is different from the number on the "welcome" letter when the green card is issued. As I recall, I included both numbers and also my A number in the cover letter to my AR-11.

If you got a receipt or your change of address showing your new address, then USCIS must have the new address on file. Which SC did the receipt come from? Vermont or California? Sounds to me like someone didn't update their system.

As for mail. Did you fill out a change of address form for the post office? We did. United States Postal Service will forward all your mail from the old address to the new one. Good to do it as soon as possible so you don't miss any mail.

Are you suppose to get a reminder from the service center you need to file your ROC with? We live in Ohio and according to the I-751 instructions we are suppose to (and did) send our ROC packet to California, but now that you mention it I notice that the reminder letter we received two months ago came from the Vermont location. Very odd.

Actually the return address on the envelope is VT, but the return address on the letter itself is from Lincoln, NE. Not sure if this helps you but might be worth mentioning anyway.

1) USCIS will forward mail from anyone but not USCIS, SS and such like. Of course, I filed change of address with USPS and I got my mail forwarded for 6mths. USPS forwards mail for only 6 months. By the 6mth actually everyone seemed to have updated their records with my new address.

USPS returned my USCIS's mail to USCIS with the yellow sticker that says "forward time expired return to sender", then below that (on the yellow sticker) they had my new address. Just like you see on forwarded mail. That's how USCIS Vermont got my new address and sent me mail that I received today. I moved more than a year ago, as I said, USPS forwards for only 6mths and will not forward mail from USCIS.

Thanks for suggesting that. On the other hand, am naturally a sucker for details, can't miss anything like that I have no room for error in my life, lol, did you see I said I have remembered to file my ROC every single day of the last 1+ years? I read a lot, I did my AOS application all by myself, just read forms and filled them out. Just trying to tell you I don't miss stuff. And am a university prof, heck, I am so pissed if my students don't follow instructions, I'd better be following them myself.

2)As I mentioned in my post, this AR11 letter came from Vermont. This was my AOS center. CA does not have my file. CA is my ROC center.

3) Receipt no. - I don't recall any receipt no. on AR11. All I recall was that I filled out my A#.

Thanks for your suggestions.

I would think so - that your ROC center would send you the reminder. Apparently, not? I wouldn't be concerned if I were you - at least they have your current address.

They enclosed an AR11 form for me to fill. I will fill and send it to the address given and include a coverletter with a copy of receipt of AR11.
