This does seem a bit extreme! I pray that all goes well in this process of gathering documentation. Good luck!

I am sorry to hear about this situation, but there had to be something within the core documents that caused a red flag. I needed many stamps for my marriage cert when I married in Morocco. Maybe there was something that appeared incorrect. I had to get a triple seal for my divorce degree from 18 years ago. I also sent a front loaded packet, so I do not think sending a lot of emails and chats, phone logs would cause a red flag. Carefully review all the civally appointed documents. That would be a red flag if the stamps were not clear and if the translations appeared to be altered in any way, even if the copy was not crystal clear. I made sure that the translator I used was on file with the US Embassy in Morroco. I also send a color photocopy of our marriage certificate to clearly show the stamps from both of the courts, family and principal court, and a stamp from the minister of foriegn affairs. I would look at that first. I know how hard it is to get a good stamp through courts. I may be over analyzing this but my husband is from the same country and I know how difficult things are there. Take care.

It seems like they are already having trouble believing your marriage and relationship. Hopefully you can get all the documents together and send it back early as you can.

This is the first I've seen of this thread, probably because it's in the General immigration forum instead of the CR1 forum.

I think you need to consider the red flags that prompted such a request. I don't know your case, so am unaware of what those might be but you really need to think about the WHY of such a request. The fact that things they already have are on this list, indicates it's a request they make in circumstances where they suspect fraud, based on a profile indicated in the documents submitted. On the other hand, you may simply have been randomly selected for extra scrutiny. In either case, I'm sure you take this seriously but do try to put aside your natural indignation and approach things as objectively as possible.

I would suggest having this thread moved to the proper forum.

Oh my goodness, we had to get many stamps in Morocco too. We started at the consulate, then the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, then on to his city to get everything else done. Getting married there was not easy! It was 2 1/2 weeks of running around from office to office....and good thing my husband is persuasive or it would've never happened....the courts were on strike for a couple of days, no one was working, but he found someone to help us. Things like that, the whole time........I had to extend my trip (I was lucky to get two weeks in the first place) because I wanted to leave as his wife, not his fiance. I have looked through the file over and over again and I don't see anything. If it's something as simple as seals on my divorce certificate, wouldn't they just ask for that?? I followed all the guides, plus the advice of many others that have gone through this process, but yet I must have missed something or something wasn't clear, etc. I just don't know. I'm copying and forwarding our file to a lawyer today, she is going to help get us through the RFE....."God willing" Thank you.

What do you mean by "based on a profile indicated in the documents submitted"? His family members and friends wrote their letters of affidavits in English. They are all educated people and two of them are teachers....would that raise a red flag? I didn't need to translate them. I can't think of anything else. We talked a lot about religion in our chats. But I'm not sure if they even read them. There were tons of them. Hopefully my lawyer will see something that I didn't...or not. Not sure which is better. I do know that at least two other people filing out of the same office got the same RFE...around the same time, within the same month. Don't know if that means anything or not. "sigh"

How do I move this to a specific forum? I didn't move it here and I'm not sure how to do that. Thanks.

I also wanted to add (since I can't get my timeline in here, it keeps telling me my signature is too long, not sure how you all did it) that we filed in late April, one touch in early May, and no touches after that. I called USCIS in September and they told me to call back in 30 days. I called back late October and they put a service request in. A week later we had two touches and a week later the RFE. Just to give you some background on our case. Thanks:) Today I am working on getting as many documents together that I can, the biggest problem with be getting documents from Morocco in time but we will do everything we possibly can to meet the deadline! I love him, he is my life, and can't imagine him not being here with me at some point.......:(

Which stamp from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs? It all seems a blur now, but we went there after the consulate to get a stamp which we faxed to the translator to translate and that went in our packet to get married in Morocco. Did I miss something there or was I not aware of something we needed to do after that? Thank you

stuff like that they may know (i.e. courts were closed around that time) so maybe they have doubt on documents you've sent even though they are valid. make sure all your copies are very sharp/clear.

you'll do well, just stay calm and organized, that can save much time. (i know "easy for me to say" ... if it's any consolation my tummy is seriously churning for you!!)

{hugs}

if you gave your info (receipt #s, full name, etc) to anyone on VJ under the guise that they would "help" you through the immigration journey with his inside contacts (like his sister at USCIS) ... please contact OLUInquiries@dhs.gov, and go to http://www.whitehouse.gov/contact to report anything suspicious. Contact your congressman and senator's offices as well.

Well the whole courts weren't closed but certain people were striking (the ones we needed), we had a hard time finding people to move our file. We had to beg people everywhere to move our file. We actually got them to send a courier (on his bike) to take our file from the court to city hall (we met him there). And the police station was having some congressional stuff going on so it was hard getting anything there...but we followed our file from office to office to get it done because we were on a time crunch. It really was a crazy time but my husband is very persuasive and people took a liking to hm everywhere and wanted to help us.

If your translator is on file with the US embassy in Morocco, you should be ok. That is the last stamp I got before leaving.

His stamp says:

Sworn translator

Accredited to the Courts

Graduate of King Fahd School of Translation

So he should be ok... We didn't get any stamps before we left, we didn't know we needed to.
