This is what the Palin family does to people:

A man shot his TV because he thought Bristol Palin did not deserve to be on Dancing With the Stars.

The shooting led to a 15-hour stand off over Monday night, calling for the involvement of hostage negotiators, a dog team, and other law enforcement authorities.

Steven N. Cowan of Vermont, Wisconsin let his rage get the best of him when Palin appeared on screen.

According to a complaint, Cowan yelled, "The (expletive) politics!" He then asked his wife to get his pistols. It was then that he fired a round into the television.

Cowan's frightened wife went to the police department to report her husband's erratic behavior. The wife revealed that Cowan was on medication for bipolar disorder, and that the family was under stress due to financial problems. He also had been drinking at a bar before coming home, the complaint said.

A town supervisor told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel that Cowan's behavior was completely out of character.

"I have nothing but good things to say about Steve," said supervisor Larry Ziemer. "It was totally out of character for this to occur. He just does an excellent job on the town board and in his private working life."

Cowan had a hearing on Wednesday, where his bail was set at $1,500. He has another hearing scheduled for December 6.

Actually, I think most liberals will be ecstatic if Palin actually becomes the Republican presidential nominee for the 2012 elections. Nothing would motivate voters more than to have her on the ticket.

It may seem similar, but there are fundamental differences. Hillary is hated by the Right because she's a Clinton, even though many of positions are more centrist. Palin, on the other hand, is an unabashed neo-con with the intelligence of a grapefruit, holding a cross and wrapping herself with the American flag. She's as close to what Dubya represents than any other candidate and for those Right Wingers who long for the days of Bush's Presidency, are hoping to rekindle some of Dubya's magic with Palin in the White House.

She's not a serious candidate. Her coy musings on the subject are contrary to polling data. It is far to early. Who wins the republican nomination will depend more on the state of the economy than what stupid things Palin says. If the economy is still in shambles, then Palin could get the nomination. A demoralized democratic base, coupled with indifference among independents is going to be an easy victory for the republicans.
