I received a letter from the NVC dated Nov. 8th 2010 stating that within the week our application would be forwarded to Ciudad Juarez . It also said my fiance would soon be receiving a packet of information containing further instructions. A couple questions:

First, I visited the consulates website ( http://ciudadjuarez.usconsulate.gov/fianceforms.html ) and checked out the K-1 and K-3 visa application forms. It is my understanding that because we filed a I-129 and it has been approved and we are applying for a K-1 FIANCE visa, as soon as we have obtained all of the information and material that they request in the packet he can go to the consulate at any time M-F between 8 and 10 AM for his interview. That only K-3 applicants get an actual appointment time set up. Am I understanding this right? Any info or advice of stuff we should be getting together and ready right now would be helpful.

Second, how long should we expect to have to wait before we receive this packet? Am I way being to hopeful by thinking he could have his interview by the end of the year?

Hello,

Im about to start that same process in the near future. As far as I know it takes around 30 days after receiving the NOA2 for that letter with an open appointment to arrive. Meanwhile your fiance can start gathering all the documents and forms that he will need and after receiving the "open appointment" letter from the consulate at his mexican address, he just need to show up at the consulate whenever he is ready. Dont forget that before going to the consulate he needs to attend the medical examinations (they also ask for the appointment letter there).

Regards :)

Hi, I have been researching these very things since we are going thru Juarez (hopefully by late March early April)

I belive once the petitioner (US Citizen) gets informed in writing they will recieve a packet with an open invitation letter for Cd. Juarez.

In our case we expect the Mexican citizen fiancee will never get her invitation letter (cuz mail delivery sucks whrere she lives) from what I have found out, this won't matter if you can bring your letter to the Mexican fiancee & acompany him/her to Cd. Juarez.

So basically go sign on to Juarez site, complete all the forms that you need (this info should be in your letter) and head on down to Juarez! I would think you should get his interview easily before the end of the year.

He will not need an appointment, he can walk in. Also I found some really awesome Juarez consulte info videos see them here!

I sure would like to know more about the letters you have recieved etc since we are going through the same place but are probably not going to get our approval letter til late February!

May I ask what day you got your NOA1?

Congrats! Felicidades!
