i agree on the blood thing... i dont drink alcohol, it is against my religion, but if my child were dying and there was a substance in wine that were life saving i would be saying hook that IV up NOW NOW NOW ! i have had this conversation MANY times with my JW friend and she says she would allow her children, her husband, her grandchildren die.

i feel like vomiting just typing that, just the thought is beyond me

Religions are not violent. People are. And they'll use anything to justify their violence including their faith and religion. Usually when a religion specifies murdering or killing someone, there's usually many reason toward it. For example, one verse of Qur'an is frequently cited as evidance that Islam tells its follower to kill unbelievers. The verse is: “And kill them [the unbelievers] wherever ye shall find them.." but if one continues to read the rest of the verse and the ones following it, they will read: "and eject them from whatever place they have ejected you; for civil discord is worse than carnage: yet attack them not at the sacred Mosque, unless they attack you therein; but if they attack you, slay them. Such the reward of the infidels...Fight therefore against them until there be no more civil discord, and the only worship be that of God: but if they desist, then let there be no hostility, save against the wicked.” So it's plainly obvious, this violence is for self defense. Similar things can also be extracted from Bible and Old Testament. From Bible, the verse that's commonly cited about advocating violence is the one that says Jesus said he came with the sword. Anti-Christian view this as some sort of call to arms. But in reality, the verse means the sword is the sword of justice and righteousness. Jesus's sword is meant to slay the devil or the evil that exist.

Violence is part of life, it's as normal and natural as Love or sex or laughing.

IConsider the animal kingdom, be it birds pulling worms out of the ground or lions gorging on a gazelle before it's quite dead it is the natural order of things.

Violence or the threat of it is what separates the slave from the free.

I respect people who reject military service but I also know these same people would be slaves if their numbers where a majority.

In my view, one of the defining parts of being civilized is knowing the -Time and place- for violence.
