If you want to say TVs will stream from the Internet that is fine, but don't think your cable bill will drop by a noticeable amount.

People have been able to stream off the Internet radio and tv shows for years, doesn't mean they throw their tvs and radios away.

It is a marketing ploy to expand their audience from local to worldwide.

Cable companies jumped into the ISP market and they will still exist, but as long as our ISP can't limit the content we get off the internet, then watching TV shows/movies this way will not be like having cable TV in the past. That's the key difference. ISP's have been pushing to be able to limit internet content, but I don't think that's going to fly too well with a public that has already tasted the freedom of accessibility. And as TV shows that traditionally were bound by network exclusivity contracts become more available on the internet, networks will become obsolete in the conventional sense. This is a good thing for the consumer, just as music is now purchased more via the internet than in the stores and music CD's, which replaced records, are quickly becoming obsolete.
