Waiting on NOA2 from VSC

A bit of News on my end...

As I mentioned in an earlier post we contacted the CSC number and spoke with a rep who informed me that VSC are currently processing August 21 Petitions and therefore you are not out of what we consider the actual time line for processing.

You need to call be after 24 more days and if your case has not processed by that time we can initiate a service request.

Well after more reading here, VJ and back at the USCIS site. I decided to call again today as every where I looked said I should at least get a service request since we are past the five month mark. I spoke to yet another different agent but this time she acknowledged I was outside the five month window and she processed a Service Request. Said I should hear back within 30 days. From other posts that I have seen the creation of a Service Request usually processes to a NOA2 before the last half of these 30 days is this true in your opinions.

Well I called again today and heard the following.

Only the government can get away with stuff like that. Can you imagine if you told a bill collector that?

That's classic:

"Sorry, I know that my credit card bill from January is due, but that is just my average. I am currently paying credit card bills from November. Please call me back in 24 days and if I have not paid your bill by that time, then I will give myself a service request."

It must be nice to be a government agency.

How often should I check it?

I am away from home so checking in is my only means of maintaining sanity.

Have you registered for alerts? All I did was enter the Receipt Number from the NOA1 and opted in for email alerts. You can also opt in for text message alerts. I checked the site periodically for updates, but the only time I saw updates were the same time they had alerted me by email. In my experience the updates were in real time. May I assume that this is what you are asking about?

I check the site periodically I guess I am searching for a reason the last touch was Oct 3, 2010.

We are patiently waiting for NOA2. I have a service request assigned as of a few days ago so I hope with that they will find my file and knock the dust of and proceed.

You may notice in my timeline that our file was 'touched' almost exactly at 5 months (the projected wait time for our particular case). It was almost like the timer went off in their office indicating they had to 'touch' our file. We received an RFE (Request For Evidence) about 5 days after they touched our case. I was initially alerted by email as per what we talked about before.

However, in your case, over 6 months is a long time comparing our timeline to yours. Good thing you have put in a service request.

I'm also over the 5-months stated on USCIS for the VSC. I have not heard a thing from them... Those Liars!

I should get a refund for a prorated amount of my application fee for every day over 5-months until I get ANY news from them!!

I got my Approval this morning! Same as the OP, got a text saying to check USCIS. I knew I had signed up for Texts and Emails, so I quickly went to check my email. There, I saw the best thing to ever hit my inbox! It was basically the same email as the OP.

Hang in there my brothers and sisters whose cases are trapped in the abyss over at VSC... You're getting close! I had totally prepared myself to wait for another month, knowing some VSC-ers have been stuck for 6 plus months. So this was a total surprise. Just last night, I told my fiance that it look like they're doing mid-October and some Novembers are sneaking themselves into the stack. Well, now i can tell her, that ours was one of the Novembers that did just that!

I am gaining hope right now, the "offical" approximate process date has been jumping two days every day for VSC...that can only mean good things.

My priority date is september 9th 2010 and still no NOA2! were at vermont also and everytime we call we get the call back in a week, call back in 2 weeks, call back at the end of the month... so frustrating!

If you haven't contact you're state senator or local congressmen, ask for help because you're petition is outside the posted processing times and ask them to request it to be expedited. It worked for me.

Thanks yeah, We got a letter in the mail saying they are performing additional work on our case and to allow 60 days from the notice for an approval or another request.. this is so frustrating. Especially now when i see people who applied after August getting their NOA2. What would some common reasons be for this "additional time?"

I guess it doesn't matter TOO much since husband is an LPR and still a long wait for visa bulletin to get up to august 2010 but still want to get over one hurdle at least!
