I have a question. What if my hubby enters US and looks for a job for a while and cannot find one, then goes back to canada for a month or so to work? Can he still work in Canada while he is a Permanent Resident here, or is that frowned upon?

That's fine. As long as he maintains his residency then he's fine. Personally when i returned to Australia for 2 months I was able to earn some money. No issue, it just was MUCH simpler to earn money in Aus while I was there. Saved a decent amount too :D

** moved from "IR-1/Cr-1 Process & Procedures" to " Working & Traveling During US Immigration" as this is relating to travelling outside the US as an LPR **

It says here that you can leave for up to a year without obtaining a reentry permit. So, "officially" it is ONE YEAR, not six months. It also says that visits outside of the US for even less than a year can be considered for abandonment of status (I read this is as for people who have continued prolonged absences from the US, not a one-time thing). I don't trust these lawyer blogs who talk about how more than one year needs a reentry permit (which is true) and then conclude that therefore 6 months is max...

hi, im a greencard holder and just received my greencard on june 7, 2010, im out of the country now and just visit the Philippines for one month and now im in camp casey korea with my husband stationed here, he is not command sponsor and before i came here i need to get a C3 visa as tourist that allow me to stay with my husband for 90 days with my US citizen baby with the permission of my husband commander for me to stay, then after my visit here, will stay for few months to the philippines and apply again for tourist visa going back here in camp casey korea, me and my husband plan to fly together back to US kentucky after his 1 year stationed here in camp casey, that would be less than 11 months of staying outside the US. no worries. i can prove that i have my visa on my passport to be with my husband, and a stamp on my US citizen baby on her passport from the immigration, and permission from my husband's commander to stay here.

im aware of the continuous residency, thats not my concern for now especially my husband moving allot from their stationed to other country, fyi, i didnt apply for re entry permit too before i left kentucky.
