Hey Guys,

The NVC wrote to me the other day, to confirm packet 3 will be sent to me in 3 weeks time. We have waited 8 months for our petition to be approved, so to make up a little time I would like to apply for my Police Report now, so I can send the completed packet back not too long after I receive it.

I've spent many hours finding out which forms to complete for my criminal history check, but I am not sure from how long ago it should go back till.

I called the London Consular helpline this morning, and they didn't really know either, but said it should be a full criminal history check. I called the Police helpline at Empress House in London, and he told me they could do a criminal history check back till my date of birth (28 years ago) if I asked for it.

So I am really unsure how far back I should date my Police report form now, as I don't want it being rejected at the London Consular.

I would eally appreciate it if somebody who knows could tell me how far back I should date it.

Many Thanks,

Jim.

Your police report should encompass the timeframe you spent anywhere in residence for more than 6 months. So if you've spent your entire life where you are, then that's the timeframe for which you should request the records.

You won't need to send your police report back with packet 3 but you will need it for your interview. It does take 40 days to receive the results once they have received your request, so you are correct in getting that out of the way now.

Yes get it done right away because UK police records do take a while to process. When they say about 40 days to get a turn around they really mean it.

 Ours took 39.

Thanks Everyone!

I will get it dated back to my date of birth, a Guy on another one of my threads say's it should be back till my 16th Birthday, so I hope if that is really what they do want, they won't just reject it, because it goes back before then.

Two other questions on this. The report is valid for 12 months, correct? I only just sent my I-130, and now my I-129F. If we send off for the report now, we should still be able to use it at least for a K-3, but will they mind that it's a few months old, as long as he's never had any trouble with the law?

Also, will we need two originals if we go for the K-3 interview and then go back for a CR-1, or can we use a copy for the second interview if it's still within the 12 months?

Thanks,

Cat :luv:

It is valid for 12 months and he will need to get a new one if it expires.

As far as having a copy... reason suggests that it would be ok, but then, using reason within this process doesn't seem to matter. I will defer to someone with direct experience here.
