Still no where near receiving our NOA2, but I'm trying to get everything required sorted out (in my head at least) so I can avoid a major panic...

As far as I can see all that's needed coming from the UK is a jab called TDapp, never heard of it, and proof of having had chickenpox. That's no prob since I've always had the same doctor.

Is that right?

If so is it worth having the vaccination done by my doctor before the medical? I'm assuming the clinic will charge more...£200 is enough to pay thanks very much, plus travel etc etc...

Any info greatly appreciated as always

You need MMR and Tdap and varicella (or had the chickenpox) I think the tdap one is a baby vaccine, so you may have to nudge the dr a little about that. Good job getting this stuff out of the way early - the effort is well worth it in the AOS end of the process

I'm in the process of having mine done now... as I only had my history from when I was a baby, but I just took the list to the nurse at my doctors, and took it from there... Now I decided to err on the side of caution, and go for as many vaccines as I could, just to cover all the bases.. some vaccines require multiple shots, so I have listed the details below

Influenza - 1 shot - I got this through my job, but it is also available free on NHS if you have Asthma or any respiratory type disease, also if you speak nicely to the nurse you might could get it free anyway?

Tdap - 1 shot - Free on NHS

MMR - 2 shots 1month apart - Free on NHS

Combined Hep A & B - three shots each 1 month apart - Free on NHS

I know you don't have to have the HEP A & B, but I chose to anyway.. just one thing to note, HEP A, and the combined A & B is free on the NHS, if you just go for the regular HEP B vaccine, then that is 3 shots @ 1 month intervals at a cost of £28 per shot... The nurse told me that the combined is as good, plus you get the increased HEP A protection, so it seemed like a pretty cool deal.

I have had chicken pox, but don't have it documented.. I just hope that showing the scars at the medical will be ok?

I must admit I'm not a fan of needles, but they're a cinch to get, I think the TDap was the most painful, but just make sure you get it in your non dominant arm, as mine was numb for a couple of days

hope this helped, & Good luck,

Nigel

Do make sure that you have had the two MMR shots.

At my medical the nurse just asked if I'd had chickenpox and that was it. No proof needed. If you are worried about it then you go try getting blood tests to show you have immunity, but probably not worth it for chickenpox.

Thanks everyone, you guys are great!

I had the mmr when I was at school so that should be fine.

Think I'll do as suggested and take the list into my doctors.

I'm not good with needles either...

I hope my fiance appreciates everything I'm putting myself through...!
