Expect to get the NOA1 letter, in my case it took about a week or two but it could vary. At the point hopefully you'll already begin gathering information to send to the fiancee. Then the NOA2.

But I'll advice you to read the "Guides". Its very helpful.

In more or less two weeks you should receive in the mail NOA1, which will basically acknowledge that your petition was received. Next, be prepared to wait a while. If your petition is routed to the California Service Center your wait could be as long as 6 months. As you can see in the timelines (Igor's lists) the graph shows an increase in waiting time for adjudication of petitions. Ther Vermont Service Center is processing petitions a bit faster, but the processing time is also on the rise there. Best wishes!

August 23, 2010 - I-129 F package sent via USPS priority mail with delivery confirmation.

August 30, 2010 - Per Department of Homeland Security (DHS) e-mail, petition received and routed to California Service Center for processing. Check cashed. I-797C Notice of Action by mail (NOA 1) - Received date 08/25/2010. Notice date 08/27/2010.

After 150 days of imposed anxious patience...

January 24, 2011 - Per USCIS website, petition approved and notice mailed.

January 31, 2011 - Approval receipt notice (NOA 2) received by mail. Called NVC, given Santo Domingo case number, and informed that petition was sent same day to consulate.

Called Visa Specialist at the Department of State every day for a case update. Informed of interview date on February, 16 2011. Informed that packet was mailed to fiance on February, 15 2011.

February 21, 2011 - Fiance has not yet received packet. Called 1-877-804-5402 (Visa Information Center of the United States Embassy) to request a duplicate packet in person pick-up at the US consulate in Santo Domingo. Packet can be picked-up by fiance on 02/28.

March 1, 2011 - Medical exam completed at Consultorios de Visa in Santo Domingo.

March 9, 2011 at 6 AM - Interview, approved!

March 18, 2011 - POE together. JFK and O'Hare airports. Legal wedding: May 16, 2011.

Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life you have imagined.

Now you start the waiting portion of this process (most of this is waiting lol).

Answer any Requests for Further Evidence/Information (RFEs) and keep your cool; and don't forget to tell each other that you love each other! It really helps you through this.

Good luck on your journey!

no,it will be after the first notice of action,if you have filled the paperwork incorrectly, they will send back the paperwork before the noa,if not, they will send you the noa,go through with the process, then send an RFE before noa 2.

Your next step is waiting for your first NOA, or NOA1, which usually takes about 10 days to 2 weeks. After receipt of NOA1, a very long wait then from 3 to 5 months for NOA2, which is the approval of your application. After that the case is sent to NVC and from there to your beneficiary's consulate in about 30 to 45 days. Then about 45 days to 60 days for completion of packets 3 and 4, medical exam and vaccinations and interview and visa issued. Check the guides and processing times available here in this site or with USCIS to have a better idea.

Hi All! I finally have my packet together and FedEx IS on their way to pick my package up!!

How do you know when it's touched?

Register your case at https://egov.uscis.gov/cris/jsps/selectusertype.jsp and add your case to your portfolio (your case number is on NOA1, starts with either WAC or whatever VSC uses). You can set it up to email and/or text you with any updates. "Touch" refers to exactly that, your "last update"
