Proof of Previous Legal Visits/Stays for Interview

I am applying for PR for my dad, who just got interviewed in Taiwan. They are requesting supplemental evidence. Apparently they were wondering if my dad and my sister and I came into the United States illegally or overstayed over 20 years ago. My dad and my sister have since moved back to Taiwan after about 10 years, while I got PR and then citizenship. However we never entered illegally nor overstayed (we always had some sort of valid nonimmigration visa). So now they are asking him to proof that not only he was always legal, but they want proof from my sister and me too. They suggested to bring all our adjustments of status paperwork. Has anybody been asked something like this before? Isn't this something that the immigration officers at the embassy could have easily verified on their own computers? My dad said that they already had the request form printed out and in his folder, so it appears they had intended to ask this supplemental evidence before the interview began.

20 years ago not everything was computerised.

They have something you want, so if they ask you provide.
