Hi, my mother had her medical exam done at St. Lukes Med Center (Philippines) last week and praise God everything went well and all her paperwork and passport will be turned over to the US Embassy in Manila. She will have her interview sched come November 23rd. When she had her medical exam at St. Lukes, she had with her print out copy of her appointment letter which the NVC sent to me via email as attachment. St. Lukes acknowledged it but the lady told her to make sure that the original appointment letter is with her on the day of her interview. I checked US Embassy in the Phils website re prepartion for interview and was stated in there that the original appointment letter should be brought by the applicant. As of today per my mother, she has not received anything from the NVC hoping that they sent to her the original appointment letter.

I and my mother are worried about her original appointment letter since her interview date is pretty close. Whoever already is done with their interview at the US Embassy in the Philippines, did the security office really in need and would ask for the original appointment letter? will the print out appointment letter that NVC sent to me via email attachment is fine and acceptable then?

Thanks guys...

I don't know the answer to your question. Maybe you could get a better answer if you posted your question in the Philippines forum.

However, if I had to guess, I would say that your mom will be allowed into the Embassy for her interview. The reason I say this is because the copy of the letter from the email attachment may actually be the original that they are talking about.

The other reason is that the guards at the Embassy can allow your mom to enter the Embassy if they want to. Manong guard has some discretion when it comes to allowing someone to enter. Chinook talked her way into the Embassy to submit papers, and she had no letter at all. At least your mom has a relevant copy...and possibly it is the original letter.

As a last resort, have your mom prepare a good long sermon. When manong guard gets tired of her sermon, he will allow her to enter the Embassy. :P
