are we going to use the DS-160 form after Dec 1 ?

NO. K1's will still need D156 (2 Copies), D157, and D156k.

I agree with idaho_and_surigao that K-1erz will not be required to use the DS-160.

If you are on the USEM's website where they are talking about the DS-160, make sure you click on the link for Frequently Asked Questions. It will take you to the Department of State (DoS) website where they tell you that K-1erz are the exception to using the DS-160. Read Frequently Asked Question #13.

Here is the link to the DoS website.

Note: you will need two copies of the DS-157.

After the “Transition” on Dec 1, I plan to let my Fiancee pay for her K-1 MRV Application Fee over the counter at her local branch of BPI in Cagayan De Oro on Mindanao.

After that we will make an appointment for my Fiancee’s interview.

I would like to make our appointment for Jan. 18, 2011.

I have come across these new USEM sites with respect to the new procedures when paying for the MRV App Fee.

I am not sure that they are saying the same thing, I would like to request for someone to review these sites and comment on their content.

Oh they changed it to where you pay it first before you can schedule...

I've read it and it basically say the same thing.

I wonder though since we, me and those who already have their interview scheduled and wants to reschedule it, do we need to pay asap now since we will call for another date? hmmmmm....

whatever comes our way, we are gonna make it through

In the fist site, they state:

....To pay the fee, the applicant must have his or her passport number available. The applicant’s passport number will be tied to the MRV fee paid at the bank. Upon payment of the MRV fee, a unique identification number (UID) will be provided for the applicant in order to access the appointment system and to keep track of the passport delivery. The UID is activated four hours after the time the cash payment was made; 24 hours for on-line payment.....

In the second site they state:

....Cash at Bank: Any nonimmigrant visa applicant can pay their fee in cash at the nearest branch of Bank of Philippine Island (BPI). You are required to bring a copy of your passport bio page for the MRV fee payment. An applicant is required to fill in passport number, amount, full name (as appearing in the passport) and contact number in the deposit slip available at the bank branch. Upon payment of the MRV application fee, the bank will issue you a copy of receipt.

Please note that you must wait for 4 hours from the time of payment of your MRV application fee before you can use it to schedule your interview appointment.(For more details please refer the table given below*) Whether you schedule your appointment online or call our call center, you will have to provide your passport number and receipt purchase date** before you will be allowed to schedule your visa interview appointment.....

In the first site we need a unique identification number. In the second site we need the passport number and the receipt purchase date.

Which is correct ?

Why are they different ?

I would hate to pay all that money and not get the correct requirement.

it's not really that different since the UID is for paying online. It's like the access code that you will use. That is if you made it online.

The site from the Philippines summarized it and combined all of the process in one confusing paragraph.

whatever comes our way, we are gonna make it through

If you still have to pay the fee, could you inform us what type of information the BPI gives you when you you pay your fee ?

Do you plan to pay your fee over the counter ?

Be Good,

Thanks

I'm lost here guys. I really hope this transition is smooth. I already have an Manila Interview scheduled for Dec. 10th but I need to reschedule it for the week after. I was informed to call this week (starting Dec. 1st) to reschedule it. But now this new transition is taking place. For those who will need to reschedule, what are your plans about this. I was planning to schedule the interview, then pay the fee at BDO when I arrive there, then go to the interview. Now, I'm a little lost. What are your plans? Hope you guys can help. Good luck all!!

call first on Dec 1 and ask them how we will go about rescheduling and all. If they ask us to pay first then call back after 4 hours then I guess we have no choice. But if they tell us that we can stick to previous process then we can just reschedule it right away then pay afterwards.

I'll sure be the first caller for Dec 1st...lolz...

I'll keep u posted guys...

@WBUCHKO - nope, haven't paid yet. Yes I will pay over the counter, and sure I will keep you posted. :)

God bless everyone!

BB & MJ, I know that you can pay BDO until Nov 30

...MRV fee payments can still be made through CitiBank or Banco de Oro (BDO) through November 30, 2010. Applicants who pay within this period, or applicants who paid the fee but have not yet booked an appointment, must schedule an interview through the new call center only. See this page ( http://manila.usembassy.gov/wwwhniv1.html#Step1 )for the contact information...

the above infornmation came from the address below:

http://manila.usembassy.gov/wwwh3024.html

Hope this helps you !

idaho_and_surigao,

Is Floricel going to go to a BPI in Manila ?

The only reason I ask, is because Meg, My Fiancee will be going to one in Cagayan De Oro on Mindanao.

I do not know if the one on Mindanao is as progressive as the one in Manila, I know they should be, but maybe the one on Mindanao is a little behind.

Could you inform the rest of us of the outcome of Floricel's over the counter payment. On one site:

http://manila.usembassy.gov/wwwhniv1.html

it states:

To pay the fee, the applicant must have his or her passport number available. The applicant’s passport number will be tied to the MRV fee paid at the bank. Upon payment of the MRV fee, a unique identification number (UID) will be provided for the applicant in order to access the appointment system and to keep track of the passport delivery. The UID is activated four hours after the time the cash payment was made; 24 hours for on-line payment.

it states:

Cash at Bank: Any nonimmigrant visa applicant can pay their fee in cash at the nearest branch of Bank of Philippine Island (BPI). We just have to be sure that if we need an UID that we get one from the bank.

I talked to mcdsnight about this, but we can all use a second opinion.

Thanks for any info,

and Good Luck !

Hey buddy, I WILL BE CALLING the Embassy today and ask them everything. You should do the same also. I really hope that this new transition will not affect our rescheduling (I have a bad feeling about this). About the new payment, I would have liked to keep my current plan to schedule the appointment and then pay the visa payment once I arrive because I have all the DS-Forms filled out for my fiancee. Hate this new changes, especially since I have to prepare for my trip as well. Anyways, I will be calling first thing when they open and get a CLEAR UNDERSTANDING ABOUT THIS and will let you know what I find out....If only the just open up new slots then everything would be soooooooooooooooo easy. My fiancee will be doing her medical this coming Thursday (pray pray :innocent: )!

I hear ya. At least you haven't scheduled yet. Me, however, I'm in a little bit of a dilemma. :o Now I have to plan on sending money to my fiancee to PAY for the application fee, then wait, then schedule. So much confusion. I would like to do the scheduling myself because my fiancee will take her medical that day. No matter what, I'll be sure to call today and get this all straightened out (hopefull).
