We finally did it!!

For everyone going through this gut wrenching, exhausting, trying, maddning process.... KEEP WITH IT!

My Fiance and I went through London... it took us a month and 2 days to get his passport back with his K1 Visa inside.

Keep the faith kids! Its a waiting game like no other.. but believe me, the relief you will feel when this part of the journey is over.. will absolutely overwhelm you...

keep smiling.. and keep fighting....

Congratulations! :)

Your timeline is actually quite good and the rest of us will probably have a lengthier process, but seeing other people successfully complete their process gives hope to the rest of us.

August 23, 2010 - I-129 F package sent via USPS priority mail with delivery confirmation.

August 30, 2010 - Per Department of Homeland Security (DHS) e-mail, petition received and routed to California Service Center for processing. Check cashed. I-797C Notice of Action by mail (NOA 1) - Received date 08/25/2010. Notice date 08/27/2010.

After 150 days of imposed anxious patience...

January 24, 2011 - Per USCIS website, petition approved and notice mailed.

January 31, 2011 - Approval receipt notice (NOA 2) received by mail. Called NVC, given Santo Domingo case number, and informed that petition was sent same day to consulate.

February 21, 2011 - Fiance has not yet received packet. Called 1-877-804-5402 (Visa Information Center of the United States Embassy) to request a duplicate packet in person pick-up at the US consulate in Santo Domingo. Packet can be picked-up by fiance on 02/28.

March 1, 2011 - Medical exam completed at Consultorios de Visa in Santo Domingo.

Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life you have imagined.

It's impossible to know. Sometimes it takes a week, sometimes it takes a month. There is nothing certain or "normal" in this process. Only averages that people can go by. Every case is different, so there is no way to know why one case moves faster or slower than any other.

Yeah but I've never heard of London taking a month just to return a passport, they're normally a week at the most.

It's rare, but it does happen. There is one VJ member who was approved at the interview for a IR/CR visa back in Feb (I think) and has been waiting ever since. It's been 9 months, still in AP, still no visa.

But, having said that, the likelihood of your fiance having a problem is small, and once he is approved he will probably get his passport back in 1-2 weeks.
