As some of you may remember, I posted last week about a confusing notice we got for my husband. We got an approval e-mail from California and it said our approval notice was on its way in the mail. Well, we got the notice on Friday, and it said "approval, section: fiance, code: CU6" but in the body it said that more biometrics were needed for the processing of the case.

I called the 1800 number and they said his case was approved and the greencard should be on its way but to just do whatever the notification said (basically, they were no help whatsoever). So we made an infopass appointment at our local office and they said the code on the notice was wrong, that CU6 is for a cuban immigrant adjustment, and that the correct code, CF1, was noted in the computer. They said the biometrics were fine, but we could go ahead and re-do them anyway.

I e-mailed CSC when we finished the appointment, basically just asking them if the notification we received via snail mail was in error, and what our status was. No response from them, but the status online has changed. This is what it says:

Current Status:

On August 3, 2006, we transferred your I485 Application to Register Permanent Residence or to Adjust Status to an office in CALIFORNIA SERVICE CENTER for processing. Our office in CALIFORNIA SERVICE CENTER will send you a written decision as soon as processing is complete. You should receive a notice informing you that your case has been transferred to a local office.

#######????? Does this mean that his approval has been revoked? Has anyone ever heard of this? And why is it saying that California will send me a decision, but then it goes on today that I'll receive a notice that the case is being transferred to a local office??

Can anyone shed some light on this? I have never heard of this before and it's driving me crazy!

Thanks for any help you can give!

Seriously, can I just point something out? The 1-800 number is USELESS! I called to see if they could pull up Amed's status just to see if he is listed as a CF1 or if his case is listed as pending, and they said that the only information they see whatsoever is the same exact thing we see when we pull up our case status online. So what is the point in calling them? They know nothing more than we do!

Sorry, I am just really frustrated today.

When I received my email notice of transfer I also called and eventually got to speak with an actual immigration officer. He said that the processing was been done in California and they would send me a written acknowledgement of the transfer. He said I did not have to go to California for the interview but that the file, once completed, would be sent to my local office who would then notify me of the interview date. That is what he said that meant. Of course, we know now that California is approving AOS applications without interviews for the most part so it doesn't look like you will have an interview.

Since the code on your letter was wrong I am wondering if they sent you the wrong case approval. Did your infopass appointment confirm that you were indeed approved or that you would hear something later on? You should receive an email back from CSC although it might take some time. Mine took 2 weeks to receive a response but they did respond. I suspect you will either hear something from them, or else receive the greencard in the mail if you have been approved. Good luck - i know this has got to be incredibly frustrating for you.

Thanks for your response.

According to both the 1-800 line, and our local office, the case had been approved. The correct approval code was showing up in the computer system, it was just incorrect on the actual written paper notice they sent us. I think the written notice itself was just a big goof-up from the CSC. It mentioned approval in the "type of notice" section, but in the written portion it talked about biometrics. I think someone just printed out the wrong notice for us.

As of yesterday, we were showing up in the system as approved based on CF1, which is what it's supposed to be. The status that's showing up on the USCIS website today is the same status that was up there 2-3 weeks ago when our case was originally sent to CSC and the approval notice no longer appears.

Thanks for the input on the e-mail for CSC. I guess i will just have to hold my horses and see what happens. Even if we weren't approved, it would suck, but it wouldn;t be too awful as long as we could get the EAD and the AP, and we'd just wait our turn. Now I'm afraid we'll be stuck in limbo-land and the approval will have stopped the processing of the EAD, yet we'll be waiting on our greencard for months.
