I have a couple or 3 friends up on Saskatoon, and believe it or not, one of them moved there from Savannah Georgia!

I gave her a box full of woolies for her first winter there, I don't think she'd ever had a pair of mittens before that! ;)

divorced - April 2010 moved back to Ontario May 2010 and surrendered green card

No different then going into a fancy smancy coffee shop and not liking their coffee. Each their own.

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

So....what do YOU propose as being the elite of coffees?

People seem to think that Loving Tim Horton's and The Tragically Hip make you more of a Canadian. Sorry, but all my friends back in Hamilton don't like either at all. We are all Canadian and don't have to fall into the trap of believing that this ####### makes you a better Canadian. We all avoided Horton's or bars that play the Hip totally. Can't stand the clientel at those place. I mean, it's coffee and a band, not the holy grail.

Erm...don't include ALL people. As for me, I like...no LOVE...Timmy's coffee simply because it's good! Not once have I thought that loving Timmy's coffee has made me more of a "canadian" (I am the USC) or that it makes me a "better" person for my preference. That's like saying if you wear a certain brand of clothes or shoes it makes you a much better person than anyone else...sorta kinda.

AND I hope this doesn't shock anyone, but I have NO frickin idea who The Tragically Hip are, other than they are a band. So...this slight generalization doesn't apply in my case. :D

they've been around for decades, but for some reason, as with all great Canadian bands, their popularity doesn't go much further than an hour across the border where they can still be heard on Canadian airwaves. No idea why. They're a whole lot better than Barenaked Ladies, they just don't know Jason Priestly I guess.

There is just something about Timmy's coffee! I have had exotic specialty coffees, have purchased some superb coffees, enjoyed Starbucks and other coffees, but there is still something about a Tim Horton's large double cream, 1 sweetner that just can't be beat. There was a drive through Tim Horton's just around the corner from where I used to work, and on my way through I would order a large coffee and a toasted whole wheat bagel with cream cheese (or a muffin - oh Timmy's muffins!) for breakfast and eat/drink it at work. We even had a coffee maker at work so could make our own - but no, I wanted the Timmy taste. Oh, I wish there was a Tim Horton's here in Georgia! After all - we do have Wendys.

(And I know who the Tragically Hip are but can take 'em or leave 'em - and it has nothing to do with being more Canadian or not - Geeze! Talk about having an affectation!)

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

My husband is drinking Tim's coffee right now... his parents bought it for me for christmas before we crossed the border into detroit... he likes it more than i do and he's the american (and is saving it religiously lol).

I understand your husband's sentiment. My mother in law brought me TWO lovely cans of Timmy's. *sigh* I have one left. Believe you me I am going to ration it out as far as I can!

Maybe we should all deluge the Timmy's/Wendy's corporation with emails begging for one down here in the Deep South! :star:
