When you come to your appointment for interview, do they take you in on the specified time on your appointment letter or is it a first come first served basis? I read somewhere that they call the applicants in the order they arrived.

My husband and I plan to come very early for our appointment in case there is a long line.

But I am worried that if we come early and they call us in before our specified appointment, our lawyer might not be there yet.

If this happens and we are called before our lawyer arrives, can we tell the officer that we would like to wait for our lawyer or do we then forfeit out scheduled appointment?

This will be at the Mount Laurel, NJ office and the appt is for an i-485.

I believe you should arrive no later than 30 minutes before your scheduled interview. And yes, they call the applicants in the order they arrived. My wife and I waited about 15 minutes after our scheduled time before we were called in.

Thank you. Do you know about my other question though? Would you know whether they would wait for my lawyer to arrive before we can start the interview?

I'm sorry. I cannot answer that question with 100% confidence. We did not use a lawyer in our case.
