Hi! Me and my fiance are gonna get started with the papers for my K-1 visa...although as we don't know how long the process will gonna take, cuz we've been told it could take up from 6 to 8 months, I would like to apply to a tourist visa so I could visit him, spend holidays with him and his family and so. But the thing is that I don't know if they would grant me the visa or even if it would do any damage to our process... Would anyone know anything about it? The only "compelling reason" (as they call it) for me to come back to Brazil would be my job, cuz I work for a big american company, I have been in the US in the past as an exchange visitor (J-1) and student (F-1), after I came back to Brazil I was denied the tourist visa because according to them I had no compelling reasons to come back, at this time I was in this same company as a trainee though which is not considered a full time position, but now I am a regular employee and in the total I have been working there for the past 1 year and 3 months.

* Love conquers all *

Honestly, if you were denied a tourist visa the first time it is unlikely that their opinions on your ties to the country having changed. Going from a trainee to a full-time position is not likely to show binding ties, as someone could quit regardless of their company's expectation of their return. You will need to show additional proof of ties to the country especially since you were denied before. They will know that your job was your only tie in the past and will expect to see more before going against their original thought of that tie. Especially being that you said its a large US company and many large US companies permit intra-company transfers to other places.

If you have it show things like ownership of property, large sums of money in a Brazilian bank, titles to vehicles, or other paperwork that show if you were to suddenly not return to Brazil you would possibly face a significant financial loss.
