This list of genocides is lacking one other atrocious genocide. During 1971, Pakistan killed 3,000,000 Bangladeshis. And 400,000 women were raped by the Pakistani army. During this genocide, Nixon Administration was aligned with and provided support to Pakistan. China, too, provided aid and arms to Pakistan. 3 million slaughtered isn't a small number. I'm perplexed as to why American students aren't taught 'bout this in school.

Because the United States put a lot of its personal prestige on the line. They even sent Naval assets into the Bay of Bengal to intimidate Indira Gandhi and prevent her from intervening on behalf of Mujibur.

*To the OP...only half a million killed on Stalin's orders ? That number is about as bogus as it get's. quad triple that number and it would still be short.

Not sure what line you are reading but I see 23 million under Stalin...not half a million

India, gun buyback and steamroll.

Stalin is responsible for the death of 17 million Russians, but only half a million were killed by his order.

"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."

Try cambodia, where the US dropped more bombs during the Vietnam war than were dropped on Japan in ww2 and brought about the rise of the Khemer Rouge

It wasn't to bomb rice fields but to cut supply lines through the Ho Chi Minh trail. Same thing happened to other countries that were unable to maintain control of their borders like Belgium for example in WWII.

The acts of the Khmer Rouge were very inhuman. I remember a docu on the History Channel about kids who were made to play the flute while the killings were done. Just imagine a nine-year-old boy playing a flute in front of tortured individuals... a boy who had to hold back any emotion or he would join the number.

Arn was one of 700 children who were taken to Wat Aik by the Khmer Rouge in the mid-1970s. Wat Aik was a Buddhist temple area in Cambodia that the Khmer Rouge converted into a killing place. Children were separated from their parents, and forced to work from 5 a.m. until midnight every day. Sometimes, they were starved.

"For one or two weeks they would not let us eat. They said, 'You didn't make any rice.' They just found an excuse to starve us to death," said Arn, who weighed about 40 pounds.

"They let me play music for them, and I knew music could save my life, because the Khmer Rouge wanted to kill me also," Arn said. "Because I looked white, my fingers were long, and they thought I was from a rich family, so they wanted to kill me, but they couldn't do that because I was out to play music for them, and I was good at it."

So what?

You're the one defending the absurb notion that the rice fields were primary targets from the OP not me.

That's facetious at best. Who burns the entire barn just to get the mouse that's living in it?

This is not a case of a farmer burning his barn to get "a" mouse.

Since you started this:

It's more like a farmer burning a field to clear it of brush to keep the rodent population down.

Yeah, the usual military taking care of dangerous rodents in foreign lands. Those deadly cambodian subsistence farmers.

Seriously, i don't care what analogies you want to use. Trying to defend a secret bombing campaign on such a large scale that it left a million people dead and set the stage for the deaths of 2 million more.... what are you trying to convince people of exactly?

If the mouse is seen as a major threat and if going after the mouse 'conventionally' carries with it unacceptably high levels of risk, then it's my understanding that's what they do. If I'm wrong, blame the TV cuz that's where I heard it.
