Can anyone explain this. I'm under a 3rd pref category with an Aug 1998 priority date. Recently I have been watching the quick progression of this category to March 1995, then for December 2010 it goes as far back as July 1992. How does this work exactly? Is there anyway to tell now how long it will take to get to my priority date. I don't quite understand the unpredictability of it.

they probably have cases that haven't been processed yet, so they have gone back. that's why it takes so many years. the visa bulletin can go forwerd, get stuck for months or regress. this happens every year and that's why you'll have to check every month and have patience. It's frustrating, but that's the way it is. it goes back and forth, until it get's there.

we've just got done with our ME. we have to wait for sputum results till January. our PD is Oct '93 and now it's back to Jul '92. What happens to us? We have someone aging out. Should we call to notify them? We're really just waiting for the medical exam results. and they expire in April 2011! So they said we have to leave by then or else we have to repeat the tests. Will we be affected? :(

Your priority date is way far yet you may need to wait more years since the visa bulletin retrogress in 3rd preference category move back to 1991,because of the backlog visa numbers, you need to calculate the years from your priority date to the current date of priority.
