Hello VJ Friends:

I've been sick (malaria) for the past couple of weeks which is why I've not been active here lately. I'm sure some of you have seen that we've been scheduled for interview on December 23, 2010, and wondering what happened. Well...my wife contacted a local TV station who came over to interview her about our case and put it on the news about 4 weeks ago. The next thing we know is being scheduled for interview on December 23, 2010! As to how it happened I cannot explain. In our situation, the scheduling was done on November 5 which runs inconsistent with the NVC's general pattern of interview scheduling - second week of every month. We're both prayerful and my wife felt that God was leading her to talk to the news people and the end-product is this wonderful news! That's all we did! When the news people came over, I was on phone with my wife and our 22 months old son....It's just so amazing how God works and we're excited about it! We're putting together everything to ensure a successful interview.

Now, I would like to have a little help from those that have gone through the interview before, especially those in the CR-1/IR category. Since the NVC collected all the original documents, passport photos, and the Immigrant Visa Application (Application for Immigrant Visa and Alien Registration), I was wondering as to whether we're required to bring a copy of the Immigrant Visa Application and passport photos. The interview letter does state that these documents are already submitted but we just have to make sure we don't miss any needed document. I would be grateful if any of those that have already gone through could spare a few minutes to keep us informed as to this question.

God bless y'all and we're praying that y'all get a date sooner than projected.

I just went through the interview process and the USEM had all our documenmts. I did bring a copy of every document I ever sent just in case.

you know your case better than anyone so think hard about what you might need and bring it to the interview just in case.

I am not up to date on your countries USEM but our interview was very easy.

Good luck dont be nervous.

Thats great- hopefully the many others who were completed at that time will hear things soon! There are a few on here...

The medical was about 380cedis. look at some of the old posts- there are two that I posted about the process at the Akai house- have him go early because they dont do them all day-

Get him to go as soon as he can.

Also the police certificate (if you need to get one now). Takes about two weeks and is 40cedis.

Let me know if you have any other questions about that stuff- the interview for the CR 1 i dont know much about...

Oh I am the beneficiary! OK I'm taking note of that. I already submitted Police Report to the NVC during the process and the interview letter states "it has been submitted already."

Thanks!

Do you really think that the news media had alot to do with you getting the interview and what news media was it...Where in the states does your spouse live. I'm very curious if that actually had impact on the case...getting an interview date and only a month to prepare is odd.. Most interviews ae scheduled 6 months out from the date notified...and yours is only a month or so.... Please inform us of the media contact and maybe it will help others that have been waiting a year or longer now........thanks so much for all your information...

when did you submit the police report? How old is it? It might be worth getting another one if it is old because they have given some in Ghana issues in the past- Im not sure how the CR-1 process works. but I would rather be safe then sorry....but thats me. But a Cr-1 could tell you better.

Heather I was thinking the same thing- one month is short notice- especially with all the ghana interviews being 5-6 months out. Who really knows what happens behind that gate....

Well...I can't say for certain but I'm sure it has a bearing on having a date. I'm saying this because nothing explains having a date in the first week of the month ( November 5). Interviews are scheduled second week of each month so it provokes some considerable doubts as to how one can be scheduled in the first week without some sort of external influence.

My wife is in Verona in New York State right at this moment, and the news media is a local news media in NY State. I think that those who have waited for too long like me can contact a local news media in their city and talk to them about the whole stuff. That's what we did...with prayer and hope I'm sure something will come out of the effort.

I was thinking getting a new one, too. I submitted the police report along with the other documents requested by the NVC about 13 months ago. I'm gonna get a new one as I don't want them to have the basis to delay us. We've had enough of the delay.

13 months is a long time. So its worth the few cedis to get it so not to be delayed any more!

and go for your medical as soon as you can- because it takes about 2 weeks for the results- and you dont have a lot of leeway time...
