Hey Everyone!!

I don't mean to hi-jack this thread, but I'd like to share our experience. I've been here in the U.S 10 years, my dad 20+ years and my brother 13 years and we've all been Naturalized but my mom never followed us here because she has no interest in living or staying here. But after years of convincing her to atleast apply for a tourist visa, she agreed to come visit us for the holidays. She applied, did the interview but was denied. They only asked her two questions, she told me. "When did your husband arrive in the U.S?" and "How come your husband did not apply for an immigrant visa on your behalf?" she answered both questions but was DENIED. Do you guys think they will never approve her for a tourist visa because they want my dad to file a petition for a relative instead?

Your mom can try once more. There's no guarantee but she can at least try. Having in the family here in the US is a big hurdle getting a tourist visa, at least in the Philippines. I know people who are even millionaires there but got denied. So they reroute to Europe for vacation.
