How long does it take after Biometrics?

My wife came from India in Dec 2008. She had a temp. green card valid till Dec. 13 2010. In Sept. 2010 we sent I-751 form. On Tuesday Nov 2nd, 2010 she had her biometrics to remove conditional status. How long after biometrics does it take to hear anything from USCIS? She wants to go to india but needs to come back before Dec 13th if she doesnt get her permanent green card? can she go to India and still come back with her temp. green card? would they let her enter US?

She should have received an I-797 Notice of Action extending the validity of her green card for 1 year.

She would use that along with her green card to renter the US after December 13, 2010 (and before December 14,2011).
