Thread moved from AOS from a work, student and visitor visa forum to the AOS from a family visa forum.

Moderator's hat off now . . .

Having your application forwarded to the California Service center is a good thing! Many people who are adjusting status from a K-1 visa have their applications sent to CSC. This means that they do not expect there to be any problems with your application, and in almost all cases, these applications that have been transferred to CSC are approved without having to have an interview. Not having to have an interview means your application can be approved faster. So, you should be receiving a notice via email and then by mail that your case has been approved, and then will receive the green card shortly afterwards, instead of a notice to appear for an interview.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

Unfortunatley right now the CSC is backed up and it seems to be taking longer for applications that have been transfered to CSC to be approved. It seems that those being scheduled interviews are being approved much earlier than those transfered to CSC. That being said they may have been processed at a local office that does not have high volume. So if your local office is extremely busy it may be quicker for CSC to process then having to wait for an interview at a very busy local office. My case was transferred to CSC in June and I am still waiting for my GC.

Actually, CSC has approved quite a few August AOS filers already. I wonder why they are (seemingly, anyways) passing over May and June filers.

I also thought that getting an AOS interview sucked, but it was blessing and we got approved right away, took less then 3and a half months to get my green card from start to finish..sometimes it's a blessing to get the interview instead of it being sent to california.
