Hello,

Thanks for the information. I have opted for electronic processing. I sent in the DS 260 online(did not send DS230) and scanned all the civil documents and emailed the file. I am hoping that this will work. Is there anything else i should be sending at this point?

Again to further Clarify. The DS260 is separate from the DS230 do not consider them one in the same. The DS260 is a necessary electronic document they are using to speedball the process of getting the documents to the Montreal Embassy. The DS260 is than electronically forwarded to the embassy ahead of all the paper work that is snail mailed. This way they are able to dish out Interview dates at a faster space and clear up some of this backlog. Regardless of what type of Visa you are doing when going through the Montreal Embassy you will have to fill out the DS260 form it is now mandatory. DS230 is a separate form and should not be considered in tandem with the DS260. Once you distinguish them as separate it is easy to understand.

The DS260 is completely electronic. That is how they send finished petitions over to the consulate electronically. Which means it gets there INSTANTLY rather than mailed. Once they receive the DS260 at the embassy they can assign interviews while the rest of the stuff is snail mailed. You can also reaffirm this is so, because if you look at the timeline spread sheet. The Interview process has sped up incredibly.

Once you complete the DS260 electronic form they electronically through w.e methods they have send it over to the embassy. So the day your case is complete at NVC its immediately sent over to the Embassy. The mail backlog is now reduced. The reason things take so long in Montreal is because of the mail back log. Its the very reason why NVC has been piloting Electronic Processing, and now this DS260. Its to speed ball the process and reduce mail back log.

Wow! I can't believe you already have an interview date! Plus it's not 5 months anymore. That's amazing.

I read your explanation above, and it makes sense now to me. I knew the DS-260 is electronic, but what I didn't consider was that there is less mail being sent to the Montreal Embassy. Thanks for clearing that part up for me.

I have sent the DS 260 and the supporting documents. I just checked the status, it says "completed". Does that mean the case is complete or just the submission is complete?

It means the submission is complete. You'll have to call NVC to find out when it has been reviewed and accepted.

Yea I believe going forward now interviews will be assigned alot quicker. As DS260 will be the new standard

Kinda crappy we got stuck in the middle of the switch over...delaying our NVC process

It has been 2 weeks since DS 260 was filed online and civil documents sent via email. I have not heard anything yet. Perhaps too early to get any updates?Any inputs please.
