hello fellow VJers....Unfortunately on the 18th of October my fiancee from Peshawar, Pakistan was put into Administrative Processing. It will be four weeks on Monday and the status has not changed according to the Department of State. I am having a hard time dealing with it. I guess my expectations were just soo high. I gave them everything I needed and extra proof of the ongoing relationship. Being a female, I was just so sure she would avoid the dreaded AP. Is there anything I can do now to speed up the process, or are we just in limbo for god knows how long. Any advice from people who have gone through AP, or going through Ap would be greatly appreciated. Are visas often given after the AP process? Was is the success rate? =(

you have to wait,do not read horror AP stories as majority of APs that go over two months are for male beneficiaries, which is pretty much expected.

unfortunately middle easterns cant avoid AP

I dont mind waiting...but I wish I could just know that the visa will be dealt in two months. I mean they told us that we were approved and paperwork was correct, took her passport, but then said you will have to go through AP. A lady at the interview told my fiancee it would take 4-6 weeks, and someone also told her it will take 2-3 months. But when I call the DOS, they tell me there is no timeline and dont give me any information what so ever regarding the process.

you are in one of the slowest places for AP to get finished. You are probably only 1/2 way through it. It is partly because of confusing records and partly because of the nature of where you are. Just keep holding on. You have a long life ahead of you.

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

There is something we all can do about AP -- become active politically. That's how we get things done in America. Join American Families United (www.americanfamiliesunited.org) a group that's working to limit AP to six months or they have to come up with an explanation. And please sign my petition calling for a 90-day limit (I figured I'd make AFU look reasonable) and a review of the entire process to eliminate backlogs and redundancies, with the aim of reducing total processing time to 6 months. We do have rights. It's just unfortunate that this issue elicits some of the worst strains in American life. But we are citizens and we can make this happen.

There is nthing anyone can do about it. Be coooooooooooooool about it and good thing will happen Inshallah.

This is America and people have a voice. We don't need to rely on Allah or Jesus -- our elected officials do just fine, as long as we put a little pressure on them. Join American Families United, which is working to reduce processing times for AP and institute accountability (www.americanfamlliesunited.org).

And please sign my petition, calling for 90-day processing and a review of the entire process with the aim of reducing total processing time to 6 months.

Four months is horrible! I suggest contacting your member of Congress and joining American Families United (www.americanfamiliesunited.org). AFU is working with Congress to limit AP to six months. If you're interested, I'd love to have you sign my petition, as well. My husband has been stuck in AP for 10 weeks, and I'm so appalled at the lack of accountability in this process that I've put together this petition asking for a 90-day limit for AP, and a review of the entire process with the goal of limiting it to six months.

Political activism DOES work.

Thanks,

Susan

hello, no i don't think you can speed it up, it takes time thay have thousands of applacations to adjudicate. you just have to be patience, and wait like the rest of us

Why such a passive approach? I can't understand feeling this way. I'm circulating a petition and using every contact I have to speed this up. I feel it's an abrogation of my rights as an American.

Nobody will give a timeline for AP. That's a major part of the problem. American Families United is trying to get Congress to put in a six-month limit - after that they would have to come up with an explanation.
