calling a player a sissy/wimp is not abuse.... The only abuse is by the fact that things like that have been bred into this younger genertation to think of it as abuse. They need to man up and stop being little girls.

it's hardly abusive when the kid is being a sissy/wimp/pansy about things.... There are far too many girly men coming out of this younger generation because of the damn coddling. A lot of them need to get the living ###### beat out of them to be honest to teach them a little something about the real world. about the only thing that will teach the kid is the abuser gets 2-5 years in a prison, where said abuser will "learn about the real world"

Thanks Danno. I do agree that for some young men the coach is their only male role model. Wouldn't this behaviour then act to influence them in a negative way though?

I had a few spankings as a child, just like most other children in my generation. No big deal. Not a big deal and neither here nor there.

You have to understand a bit about children/people in general to understand that sometimes it's necessary to spank a child, scold a child, shame a child, etc.. in order to get them to understand the situation. Every child is different. Some children you never ever need to spank to teach them, some react better to the idea of something physical to show them right from wrong, etc. Sometimes a timeout works, sometimes explaining it works... Every child is different. There's no one right or wrong way to teach a child. You just have to be willing to figure out what works for your kid.

Though when you look at the liberal nature of parenting today, in dismissing spanking, adding a belt to the scenario if necessary, treating a child more ilke a friend than a student, etc.. and you see the harsh attitude change in today's youth, it should be a damn wake up call that liberal parenting and stupid ####### show like 'nanny 911/supernanny' have caused havoc on the minds of our youth today and there's very little 'respect' these kids have been taught to have.

It's possible but lets not forget, we are only hearing one element of his actions with these kids. He could have gave a lot of positive input for the occasional bit of harsh talk.

Without knowing the full scope of the situation I would limit my assessment of him to "Stupid"... at this time.

His style may well have had an overall positive in guiding these young man with his rough style but he had to know this stuff would blow=up if it was made public.
