Hi Everyone,

I had my interview for USC on November 10,2010 in San Francisco. My case is based on 3 year marriage to USC. Overall, the interview is "In and Out" and very easy. The IO was nice and professional, but she was in lightning speed. Every thing was super fast. It was like riding a roller coaster at disney land  .I could not even know I was done. I finished after exactly 15 minutes. Here is my experience:

My appointment was 10:45, I checked in at 10:15. At 10:47, one lady came out and called my name. She thanked me for waiting :) and led me in her office. Once we were inside, she swore me in. I brought a thick binder with all kinds of supporting documents, and i put the binder right on the desk. First, she asked for my ids, passports, and green cards. I took them out, but she did not even touch them. So I put them nicely on the desk. She spoke super fast (in lightning speed) She went over my application, verified my name, my birthdate, address, and work. She asked me if I applied under 3 year marriage rule in which i said "yes." She asked if i was still married. HOw long have i been married? do you have any children? and when did i come to the U.S? What was my status?

She asked me since i applied under marriage to USC, did i submit requested documents with my application? I quickly said "Yes, i submitted everything you asked for including marriage certificate, my wife birth certificate, bank statements, tax returns." She asked "do you bring any more evidence? I replied "Yes, i bring some more bank statements and tax transcripts as requested. While speaking, I was also pulling them out from the binder. However, again, she did not even bother to look, so i put them on the desk. She continued to go over my application and took notes for my answers. She asked if i registered for selective services. I said "yes, i also brought a copy of it." She said "great job , can i see it" I took it out and handed it to her. She wrote down the registration number and gave it back to me. She looked at my travel date on the application. "You travelled abroad three time, it is correct? any more trip? " Last but not least, she went over all of "Yes,NO" questions on the application. Again, she spoke very fast, but i managed to keep pace with her. After the questions, she wanted to see the bank statements that i had put on the desk earlier. I promptly handed them to her, but most of them were still in sealed enveloped. She paused for a second, i quickly said "do you want me to open them." She said "Don't worry, you can do it later! " Then she asked me to sign for two photos and handed me a paper with my name and some information to verify. This would be appeared on the certificate :wow: . Even though i requested to change my name by dropping my middle name, she said they could not change name any more. I had to do it in a court later.

Immediately (without telling me we moved on to the test), she asked me:

1. Who was the first president?

2. The house of representative has how many voting members?

3. In what month do we vote for president?

4. who is the us chief of justice?

5. We elect us representative for how many year?

6. Name one war during 1900's?

She handed me a paper with 3 questions on it and asked me to read number 2 which was "in what month do we vote for president?" She told me the answer and asked me to write it down.

Suddenly, her phone rang. She picked it up and said "Hi Honey, I am almost done. This is my last one...bla bla bla" :P I guess it would be her bf/husband. So to be polite and pretend not to listen to her conversation, I focused on opening my bank statement envelopes. Finally, she told the person on the phone to "hold on." Turned to me, she told me "just give me the first bank statement, you are done" :o !!! and handed me the paper in which she checked me for passing the test and congratulation, your case is recommended for approval." I did not even know if i was done or not. As she stood up, i also stood up and i quickly put everything back to my binders. She went to the door and waited for me there. She was very rushing. Before leaving, I managed to ask her one last question "How can i apply for a job with uscis?" She quickly replied" Oh go online , good luck to you." I said "Thanks you" and the door was slammed  I knew she had someone on the phone waiting for her.....

Anyway, that was my interview experience. It was much easier than i expected. I brought a lot of documents and evidence. Yet the io did not even touch any of them except my selective service record and one bank statement. Perhaps, she was rushing for something more important. That was ok for me. She did not ask much about my marriage or my wife or anything tricky. Just straight up questions. While writing notes on the papers, she did periodically look straight in my eyes. But I managed to maintain eye contacts with her very welll  . I know that is the way they do to check if you are nervous or lying....

I am almost done, so I'd like to thanks everyone here for sharing your experience. Especially, I want to THANK "Franklock, Cinch, Spark ". Before my interview, i sent out message to those people, and they quickly replied me back with their detailed interview experience and tips. I have to say I learn a lot from their personal experience. If I pay for a lawyer, i know i may not get better tips at all. Really appreciate your time and i wish you all success in your life. You are good people......

And Good Luck to everyone who is waiting for the interview. If you need help or anything, this website is the key. Last but not least, just be prepared and be polite to the IO, you will be ok!!!
