Ok, so it has almost been two months since I have heard anything from USCIS. Last thing that happened was a touch on June 28th. Now, I know it hasnt been long, only three months since i filed, but with all the interview letters and stuff going to other people who filed even a month after me I cant help but worry. Should I call and inquire about my case or should I just patiently wait? I dont know how much they appreciate people calling them about case inquiry and dont want to piss off the wrong person and have my app. put at the bottom of the pile. Anyone else in my shoes? Havent seen anyone recently who hasnt heard anything since June...

Hm, it is probably normal since you didnt't file for EAD nor AP. But if you are super worried, just schedule an Infopass appointment. I think it can't hurt.

Good luck!

I was in the same boat as you until a few days ago: My last touch until then was mid-June (June 17th) and nothing since then...until it was touched again August 16th.

So maybe you should just give them another week or so

Our case took 19 months. I made two infopass appointments during that time and also wrote my congressman. All they ever said was you have to wait. I suspect you'll hear the same thing. If you think they are going to tell you why it's taking so long, think again.

Lack of touches doesn't mean they haven't been working on your case. It certainly didn't in my case. You should call the hotline and if that's no good, get an infopass because there's a chance they sent you an interview notice and it was lost in the mail (small chance, but worth checking out).

Do you get an email from the USCIS when they sent you the interview letter if you are signed up on their website?

We didn't, and we got four interview letters. The first one was cancelled and then rescheduled one year later. We didn't get "touched" or get an email either time.

Also, one of the interview letters went to the wrong address. I am sponsoring two people (wife and son). We changed our address a few months before the interview and even though we followed all the procedures properly they still sent it to the wrong address for my stepson (and the post office did not forward it either even though they were supposed to).

I didn't. My online status shows the last touch on July 7th. Online status right now is screwed.

The only email I ever got from USCIS is the one confirming I'd created my account on the site.

Woooow. I thought the case status was only screwd for those who hadn't had their case in the system yet. Hmmm... then maybe I am just not getting anything and will recieve a welcome letter in the mail because my case got transferred to California..... hey, a girl can dream right?

It seems that Chicago takes about 5 months for an interview from filing... which is why I am debating inquiring. More worry than anything. Just restless I guess... I know I know, patience is a virtue ;)

Just don't expect the 1-800 number to be any help. They told me the only thing they could see regarding our case is the status that is listed when I log on to the website.

If your local office is close by, you could always make an infopass. I would give it a little while longer, though.

Mine too was submitted on April 25th with NOA of May 1st, Still waiting. Have done Biometrics already. 2 touches since then. Last touch August 7th,2006. Don't know what the heck they are doing. but on the other hand Memphis is my Local office and they take a YEAR to process AOS. I guess i should not bother that my AOS petition would be transfered to Cali.

Stina,

I would wait a bit longer. They are probably waiting for the security checks to come back, and since it was transferred to california you will probably get approval without an interview. Some people get interviews before security checks are complete and end up still waiting. 3 months isn't long. My file was also transferred to California. I had to do a 2nd AOS biometrics because the first had expired. I was touched just after biometrics for several days then my next 'touch came 3 months after the biometrics touches, and then I received the approval emails shortly after that. For me the whole process took 23 months and 1 week. I amn sure you will hear something pretty soon though.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”
