DALLAS — Along Interstate 30, near the eastbound Westmoreland Road exit in Dallas, stands a billboard that forces drivers to do a double-take.

It's big and bold and carries a compelling message.

"It's a competitive job market, so I am looking for ways to market myself to stand out," Goodwin Eshelman explained.

The 27-year-old graduated with a Masters of Business Administration from Southern Methodist University in May. He hasn't been able to find any work.

"I think it's been more difficult than most people expected," Eshelman said.

After spending months on the traditional job-hunting track and getting nowhere, he decided to put up the highway ad. Nearly a month later, it has increased the traffic to his Web site, HireGoodwin.com.

"I'm talking to people in my network, e-mailing resumes, applying to jobs online. I'm doing all the traditional stuff," he said, looking back at his image on the billboard. "The good thing about this guy is that he's out here 24-7 smiling at people, and I can't do that."

Eshelman said he has received dozens of e-mails and is currently, working on 20 solid job leads. He hopes the new inventory of eyeballs taking a look at his resume will lead to a marketing management or strategic planning position.

Eshelman doesn't know when the billboard will come down, but he's already exploring ways to take his employment search to the next level.

"This plays into my strategy," he said "But the problem is, if I tell you, then everyone can do them."

So now we're going to be looking at 15,000,000,000 fcuking billboards on the highways? Recruiters will have to leave the office then and take a drive down I-75 in search for candidates.
