Hi VJers,

In contrast with all others are aiming, we are to prolong our NVC process. :luv: Husband and I are going to renew our vows on July 2011 here in the Philippines and we are worried that the visa might expire before our 're-wedding' date (since it only has 6-month expiry) if we pay aos and iv bills and submit aos and iv packets at this early.. ds 3230 have just been received by NVC and iv bill is generated. Hubby is hesitant to to pay it at this early. When is the best way to pay for it and send aos and iv packets? and, does all cr-1 visa expire 6 months after medical exam? Thank you all in advance!

You both are planning to renew vows in July 2011. How early can you travel to the U.S. after the ceremony?

If you pay your AOS and IV bills 1st week in January 2011, your case should be completed in a month. Completed case sent to embassy in Manila. Depending on Embassy's schedule, your interview may be in 1-2 months. You're looking at an interview maybe February or March 2011.

The visa expires 6 months after the visa was approved, not after the medical exam. BTW, did you do the medical yet?

Your Hubby can pay it whenever he'd like as they will not case complete your case without the aos and Iv packets. If you are worried about being approved too soon then wait a month or two before sending in the paperwork. yes it expires 6 months after the approved INTERVIEW date not medical date. You should be fine as long as your interview date isnt before March.

Hi Markieboy,

We're planning to travel US on the 3rd week of July, perhaps..

So, I think your suggestion of paying aos and iv bills on January 2011 is workable enough.. If ever we pay it this early and just delay the sending of packets, will it do the same thing? What does really matter? the paying or the sending of forms?

Most of my reading says that it's 6 months after the medical exam. Good you enlightened me about that. I haven't had my medical yet. We're not making any move now after receiving email of NVC saying our ds3230 has been received.

Thanks!

That is a better choice. Pay both AOS and IV bills now. Then send the packets in January. Both options will result in a delayed case completion. I don't think it matters too much. But I do prefer the 2nd method.

Good luck with whatever you decide! And Congratulations on renewing your wedding vows! :D

I beg to differ on this one....Mhay's visa expired 6 months from her medical not her interview. No special issues came up...she passed the medical with no problems.

To the OP, you can get through the NVC and always call the embassy and ask for a later interview date too. I would hate to see you get put into AP at the NVC and overshoot the date too. But, you do control how quick you get through the NVC. You can pay the stuff now and send the packages around the end of december.. I would have your wife do her medical when you get the case complete if she hasnt had any issues with TB in her past or family.
