Should we get my wife's passport updated?

Somehow when we got married the wrong birthplace got put on the marriage certificate for my wife (city where she lived, not where she was born). We didn't notice. Later we went to DFA and had her passport updated to her new married name. Get the visa and come to notice that it has the wrong birthplace too. I wouldn't worry about it EXCEPT that the US embassy is supposed to be a stickler for little mismatching details like this so I am concerned they will kick our application back. Should we go ahead and get the passport corrected, or is it no big deal?

Main reason why the passport entry was in error was because the primary document it was based on (NSO Marriage Certificate) is also incorrect...though her birth place should have been based on what appears on the NSO birth certificate (then again, that's me...someone at DFA should have caught that).

The band-aid solution (don't quote me on this quite yet, I am not sure if this is still acceptable) would be to secure an affidavit of discrepancy. It's another piece of paper your wife has to lug around until you can get to the long-term solution, which is to get your Marriage Certificate corrected before you get her passport corrected.

If it were me, i would get everything corrected. I would hate to get a denial because of something so small.
