hi there. first off i would like to say thank you for this site. it has provided me with a lot of information about the immigration process. i am in the middle of an aos but received the pink letter for initial evidence. its asking for my banks statements for the last 12 months and also a co sponsor. i am able to find a co sponsor that makes well over the amount but the only question she had for me was that does the affidavit of support show up on her credit report in anyway. only reason she asked because she was applying for a loan and they saw that she had sponsored someone previously on a student visa. could not really find a clear answer to this.

thanks

No, the affidavit of support will not appear on a credit report.

thanks for the quick reply. would in any way will it show up that she co sponsor me? also how was the bank able to find out that she had sponsor someone before?

My only guess is a student visa is different because it's a definite sponsor (as in actually providing funds), whereas an Affidavit of Support (I-864) is only if and when the person sponsored uses "public funds" or something like that and the government seeks reimbursement.

I know for a fact it's not listed because I applied for AOS in April and was approved 1 July 2010. We ran a credit check on my husband on 14 July because we were buying a house and wanted to make sure there were no surprises. There is absolutely no mention of me or the affidavit of support on his credit history (I checked the copy before I wrote this).
